Roseate Terns are seabirds that breed in North America from the Iles de la Madeleine in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, south to New York, and in the West Indies. Canada is at the northern limit of their breeding range and has about 3% of the population. This recovery plan is a response to the designation by the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada in 1986 of the Roseate Tern as a threatened species in Canada. The document describes the species, its life history, and feeding habits; and evaluates its current status, including factors affecting its vulnerability, its ecosystem role and interactions with humans, and its recovery potential in Canada.
