Hoy en dia, todavia es muy comun ver empresas que realizan cambios o mejoras en la calidad de sus productos a traves de la implementacion de una cierta tecnica o herramienta de calidad que se encuentre "de moda". Esto ya no es permisible ya que dichas empresas, de no cambiar su actitud, estan destinadas a sucumbir ante la competencia internacional. Existe un punto que parecen olvidar las empresas descritas anteriormente, asi como las que toman una postura verdaderamente seria en lo que a calidad respecta. Ese punto son los sistemas de medicion con los cuales se registran los niveles de calidad con los que se cuenta. Si una empresa utiliza la tecnica o herramienta de calidad mas sofisticada o acude al consultor con mas brillante trayectoria profesional, pero no realiza un analisis de sus instrumentos de medicion, lo mas seguro es que no se llegue a ninguna mejoria. Los sistemas de medicion son muy importantes ya que como se menciono anteriormente, son estos los que indican los niveles de calidad con los que se este operando. Para que los instrumentos de medicion indiquen dichos niveles de calidad con los que se este operando, se necesita que estos se encuentren calibrados. Generalmente la calibracion de dichos instrumentos es costosa, por lo que se deben buscar alternativas de calibracion en las cuales se incurra en costos mas bajos. El Dr. Genichi Taguchi propone una serie de tecnicas de calibracion de instrumentos de medicion, las cuales buscan reducir la perdida incurrida al realizar mediciones incorrectas, asi como mejorar el desempeno de dichos instrumentos. El objetivo de la presente tesis es desarrollar una metodologia de calibracion de instrumentos de medicion, utilizando las tecnicas de Ingenieria de Medicion desarrolladas por el Dr. Taguchi. Dicha metodologia debera ser economica, confiable y de facil implementacion.
