Book Description
Ernest J. Gregory served his fellowman for many years as a distinguished surgeon and breast cancer specialist. In the late 60s and early 70s, he felt a strong calling to use his medical skills to help the huge numbers of people who were becoming addicted to drugs, heroin primarily. He was inspired to embark on this endeavor by reading The Cross and the Switchblade by David Wilkerson. At the time Dr. Gregory took on this challenge, little was known about how to help a person who was addicted to heroin. His faith-based TOUCH Program was a pioneer work and one that has been an inspiring model for others to follow. This book is the historical account of how the program was established, how it was administered, and what the results were. It is a valuable tool for any health professional who is working to help those suffering with addictions. It is also a helpful source of practical information for those who are dealing with a family member or friend who is an addict. The book is forthright and painfully honest in its description of the addict, and what the TOUCH Program discovered to be some of the causes for addiction. It does not hold out false hope, but it is a book based on the bright hope that through faith in Jesus Christ there is the power to heal the hearts of those men and women who are willing to cast all their care on Him.

Book Description
Scientist, physician, and pastor Stephen Ko explains how to live and worship incarnationally and glorify God with our bodies. Many of us don't see much connection between spiritual and physical health. We say grace before digging into greasy, fatty meals we know are bad for us. We read Scripture on our phones before switching to social media feeds that hijack the neural circuitry in our brains. Or we take our physical health too seriously, distancing ourselves from the sick and the needy whom Jesus embraced. On his journey from pediatrician to public health officer for the CDC to senior pastor of the largest New York Chinese Alliance Church, Stephen Ko has seen that these divisions between physical and spiritual health are artificial. In Faith Embodied, he reminds us that our "bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit" (1 Corinthians 6:19). Christ incarnate is deity in flesh, and His spirit is incarnate in us. Living and worshiping incarnationally is consciously embracing what the Creator has designed in His image, from the finest, microscopic details to vital organs within our body, enabling the Holy Spirit to work in us. Faith Embodied will teach you to: Understand subconscious ways that thwart the design of the Creator. Embrace choices that invite incarnational health, living, and worship. Experience God in every aspect of your life, from flesh and bone to heart and soul. View the five senses (sight, smell, hearing, touch, taste) in a different light Reflect the image of God in the way you breathe, move, create, love, and rest. Weaving together insights from faith, science, and medicine, Ko reveals the marvelous ways in which our physical and spiritual health can prepare us to become instruments of God's healing in the world. A companion streaming video study is also available.

Book Description
This book addresses the history of the senses in relation to affective piety and its role in devotional practices in the late Middle Ages, focusing on the sense of touch. It argues that only by deeply analysing this specific context of perception can the full significance of sensory religious experience in the Late Middle Ages be understood. Considering the centrality of the body to medieval society and Christianity, this collection explores a range of devotional practices, mainly relating to the Passion of Christ, and features manuscripts, works of devotional literature, art, woodcuts and judicial records. It brings together a multidisciplinary group of scholars to offer a variety of methodological approaches, in order to understand how touch was encoded, evoked and purposefully used. The book further considers how touch was related to the medieval theory of perception, examining its relation to the inner and outer senses through the eyes of visionaries, mystics, theologians and confessors, not only as praxis but from different theoretical points of view. While considered the most basic of spiritual experience, the chapters in this book highlight the all-pervasive presence of touch and the significance of ‘affective piety’ to Late Medieval Christians. Book Description
Why do we suffer? How can I understand my suffering? Why do I have to be bruised and hurt? Where does difficulty lead me? When we are being matured, God uses many methods to achieve his goal. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Bruised but Not Broken, by author Terry Atkinson, offers a Biblically based understanding of sickness and human suffering. He tells the story and explains the history of the bruised reed in Matthew 12:20. Through an allegory of Christian life, Terry Atkinson addresses many of the questions about why we suffer, and he sheds light and understanding to the heart and to our sometimes-muddled intellect. When darkness falls, Bruised but Not Broken helps you look for the shining moon, and when day breaks, it will help you look for the rising sun and to rise with it.
