It was constructed during the British Rule by the then Vice Roy Lord Curzon in the memory of Queen Victoria who passed away in the year 1901. It is made up of white marble brought from Makrana of Rajasthan. It was started in the year 1906 and completed in 1920, thus nearly 14 years took for its marvellous construction.
