ADAPTIVE SELECTION Physical-training activities must be selected according to natural principles of adaptation to the incentives, capacities, and needs of each age period, with sex differentiation and individual differences taken into account. The selection is adaptive, and it must be determined by continuous educational research. i. Age adaptation. The adaptation of activities to age periods requires a selection according to age tendencies, capacities, and needs. This gives a selection according to the principle of progression in age incentive, capacities, and needs. The selection may be very precise and scientific. Age adaptation requires (a) that the activities shall be selected which are most characteristic of the natural tendencies of the age. They should be the activities which tend to arise spontaneously.
