Everyone knows the story of the three little pigs but few know the complementary story of how three friendly little wolves were persecuted by the Big Bad Boar. A few stories have attempted to right this egregious wrong but none have told the all encompassing story of how these clever little wolves performed miraculous feats of daring-do while being hounded by the Big Bad Boar. So, if you've ever wondered: Where did the Unicorn come from? How did Prince Charming really get past those roses to kiss Sleeping Beauty? What are the ingredients to make Seven League Boots? And How do you break witches' spells? Then find the answers while you read how Three Little Wolves undid witches spells, used enchanted robins to make magic boots, outsmarted a selfish king and saved his castle from the big bad boar.
Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig
Author: Eugene Trivizas
Publisher:
ISBN: 9780008602826
Category : Juvenile Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 0
Book Description
A subversive and hilarious spin on the well-loved fairy tale. The three little wolves erect first a solid brick house. The big bad pig comes along and when huffing and puffing fails to work, he uses a sledgehammer to bring the house down. Next they build a home of concrete: The pig demolishes it with his pneumatic drill. The three little wolves choose an even stronger design next time round: They erect a house, made of steel, barbed wire, armor plates and video entry system, but the pig finds a way to demolish it too. It is only when the wolves construct a rather fragile house made of cherry blossoms, daffodils, pink roses, and marigolds that the pig has a change of heart ... A great read for children who enjoyed The Wolf's Story by Toby Forward. Kids aged 5 and up will enjoy this hilarious, subversive and brilliant read aloud picture book. Eugene Trivizas's text for The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig is perfectly complemented by Helen Oxenbury's watercolour illustrations. Eugene Trivizas has written over 100 books and is the winner of more than twenty national and international prizes and awards. His work has been adapted for stage, screen and radio. Helen Oxenbury's warm and witty illustrations have charmed children and adults alike for many years. Her version of Alice in Wonderland, published by Walker Books, won the 2001 Kate Greenaway Award, which she first won in 1969 for The Quangle Wangle's Hat. She has also won the Smarties Book Prize three times.

Wolves aren't little and good—they are big and bad. To prove he is a real wolf, the old wolf tells Rolf he must perform certain tasks, such as blowing down a little pig's house. Rolf is a total failure . . . until the big bad wolf urges him to do something unspeakable to old Mrs. Boggins. Then the good little wolf proves that he can stand up to the big bad bully. Shiny’s Kid
Author: John T. Bresnahan
Publisher: Dorrance Publishing
ISBN:
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 244
Book Description
About the Book After the suspicious death of his parents, a toddler is dumped in a horribly abusive orphanage by his greedy grandfather who expected him to die there. But he didn't. He survived and escaped, landing under the wing of a homeless Army veteran, who taught him how to keep right on surviving. Known on the street as simply Shiny’s Kid, James Flint is anything but simple. He’s a highly intelligent young man raised to remain aloof and distant for his own protection, but who reaches out for a sense of friendship, community, and family he never had growing up. Flint, ends up inheriting the estate his late grandfather stole as well as property in the northwest. Once there, he begins building, building a home, friendships, building that community and family he’s always sought. Along the way he helps a growing number of people who embrace him, and despite any setbacks he faces, he does not give up and keeps trying, seeing how his positive actions affect those around him. The only alternative to this is reverting to how he was raised—cold and alone in a “kill or be killed” atmosphere. Can a kid who began poor, abused, and raised on the streets overcome it all, do well, and make a difference with and for those around him? About the Author John T. Bresnahan was born and raised in New England. His favorite holidays are St. Patrick’s Day and Fall Festivals. He joined the Air Force and served over twenty years, and got to see most of the world. Bresnahan retired and finished his master’s degree, going on to teach elementary school, mostly fourth grade, which he loved, until he retired in 2018. After surviving in his house through Hurricane Michael’s fury, once he got power and water several months later, he started getting ideas that he just had to put down on paper. It was really weird at first, as he has gone off in several directions, and now has ten books started—from adventure, to Sci-Fi, to romance. Bresnahan’s two sons are his life; though they are both grown, he will always see them as young boys, whose only goal in life, (it seemed to him at the time) was to challenge him. His family in Massachusetts is far away, but it is wonderful when they get together to talk and socialize. Bresnahan likes to do small woodworking projects, painting, mostly acrylics, and drawing. His grandmother started painting in her sixties, and was pretty good. He suspects his family tends towards late bloomers in the talent category.
