Our Saviour'was descended of a poor wo man, 'and so humble was his state, that neither J ews, Gentiles, 'nor even the apostles themselves; could at first discern the essence of that divinity Which afterwards became so conspicuous but his life became greatly worthy of imitation, even from the confession of his professed enemies. The wife of Pilate called him that just per son Pilate pronounced him guih'zess and Judas said he was innocent Thus we see, that though the preaching of Christ mighttbe obnoxious to some, the force of his doctrine was generally confessed.
