Cultural Perception of Marriage Among Muslims
Author: Sheikh Muhammad Kamaludin
Publisher: AuthorHouse
ISBN: 1504993268
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 216
Book Description
Although the institution of marriage has been in existence since the creation of the human race, mankind has struggled to achieve the peace and security that this institution is supposed to offer. Many books have been written and numerous seminars and conferences have been held to answer the often asked question What is the recipe for a blissful marriage?, and although many suggestions have been offered, the rate of divorce continues to increase. The author relentlessly pursued and researched this line of study, taking him back to the first human creation, bringing him nearer to the origin of this institution and its originator. Throughout the ages, many billions of people have followed this tradition in which the lawful reproductions of the human race have been ensured. As time elapsed and man went astray from the divine guidance that came to him, the originator sends constant reminders of the rules, as once sent to the prophets that are supposed to guide us. However, again and again we have chosen to ignore these rules that are supposed to secure that peaceful, happy, tranquil, and durable relationship between husband and wife. Cultural Perception of Marriage among Muslims is filled with advice and a recipe for success for people of all races and colours, religion and locales, of how a blissful marriage can be achieved when drawn from the divine text. So whether you are married or hope to get married one day, this book will be of great benefit and a blessing. This book is to be studied and used as a point of reference in order to avoid the pitfalls of disunity and disagreement and separation between a husband and wife, avoiding a problematic marriage.

Family Law in Islam
Author: Maaike Voorhoeve
Publisher: I.B. Tauris
ISBN: 9781784536268
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 256
Book Description
In both the West and throughout the Muslim world, Islamic family law is a highly and hotly debated topic. In the Muslim World, the discussions at the heart of these debates are often primarily concerned with the extent to which classical Islamic family law should be implemented in the national legal system, and the impact this has on society. Family Law in Islam highlights these discussions by looking at public debates and legal practice. Using a range of contemporary examples, from polygamy to informal marriage (zawaj 'urfi), and from divorce with mutual agreement (khul') to judicial divorce (tatliq), this wide-ranging and penetrating volume explores the impact of Islamic law on individuals, families and society alike from Morocco to Egypt and from Syria to Iran. It thus contains material of vital importance for researchers of Islamic Law, Politics and Society in the Middle East and North Africa."

Law of Desire
Author: Shahla Haeri
Publisher: Syracuse University Press
ISBN: 0815652941
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 322
Book Description
As an Iranian Muslim woman and a granddaughter of a well-known ayatollah, Shahla Haeri was accepted into the communities where she conducted her fieldwork on mut’a, temporary marriage. Mut’a is legally sanctioned among the Twelver Shi’ites who live predominantly in Iran. Drawing on rich interviews that would have been denied a Western anthropologist, the author describes the concept of a temporary-marriage contract, in which a man and an unmarried woman (virgin, widow, or divorcee) decide how long they want to stay married to each other (from one hour to ninety-nine years) and how much money is to be given to the temporary wife. Since the Iranian revolution of 1979, the regime has conduction an intensive campaign to revitalize this form of marriage, and Shi’i ulama (religious scholars) support it as positive, self-affirming, and cognizant of human needs. Challenged by secularly educated urban Iranian women, and men and by the West, the ulama have been called upon to address themselves to the implications of this custom for modern Iranian society, to respond to the changes that mut’a is legally equivalent to hire or lease, that it is abusive of women, and that it is in fact legalized prostitution. Law if Desire thus makes available previously untapped and undocumented data about an institution in which sexuality, morality, religious rules, secular laws, and cultural practices converge. This important work will be of interest to cultural anthropologist, religious scholars, scholars of the Middle East, and lawyers as well as to those interested in the role of women in Islamic society.

The Essentials of Islam
Author: Saeed Bin Ahmed Al-Lootah
Publisher:
ISBN: 9788178981505
Category : Islam
Languages : en
Pages : 156
Book Description
God declares in the Quran, The only religion in the sight of Allah is Islam, and that if anyone desires a religion other than Islam, it will not be accepted from him: Therefore, seeking knowledge about Islam is the inviolable, sacrosanct duty of all human beings. It is binding upon all to familiarize themselves with the tenets of Islam, which Allah declares in His infallible Book, the Quran, to be the religion which he has chosen for mankind. Ignorance about its indubitable words of wisdom and human salvation does not give anyone the license to deny this religion of Allah. Indeed, such ignorance an inexcusable moral condition. This book presents the foremost principles of Islam in a very comprehensible, reader-friendly, lucid, and concise manner. The purpose of the book is to provide its readers with full details about articles of faith, the pillars of Islam and general rules encompassing all prohibitions pertaining to food and drink, clothes, professions, matters of family relations, etc. in a very clear and conclusive manner, which is in consonance with the teachings of the Quran. Islam represents Divine religion, which is free from ambiguity and dissonance. This book aims at building faith in precisely this manner. It is a work par excellence, which teaches in the simplest and most pellucid fashion the tenets which are the building blocks of Islam. The ineffable beauty of this book is the brevity of its language and the precision of its teachings.
