Book Description
CETTE THESE TRAITE DE QUATRE THEMES CONCERNANT LES PROTOTYPES DES SYSTEMES A DESORDRE GELE, LES VERRES DE SPIN. ILS Y SONT PRESENTES EN QUATRE CHAPITRES DISTINCTS. DANS LE PREMIER DE CES CHAPITRES, ON CONSIDERE UN SYSTEME DE VERRE DE SPIN METALLIQUE, FORME DE COUCHES D'EPAISSEUR W SEPAREES PAR UNE DISTANCE L. ON DETERMINE DES LOIS D'ECHELLE POUR LA TEMPERATURE CRITIQUE EN FONCTION DE W ET DE L, ET POUR LA LONGUEUR DE CORRELATION EN FONCTION DE W, DE L, ET DE LA TEMPERATURE T. UNE ECHELLE DE LONGUEUR L#C#R, AU-DELA DE LAQUELLE LE COUPLAGE ENTRE COUCHES MAGNETIQUES DEVIENT IMPORTANT, Y JOUE UN ROLE ESSENTIEL. EN SUS, ON ETUDIE LA DYNAMIQUE DE CE SYSTEME POUR COMPLETER L'IMAGE THEORIQUE DES PHENOMENES RENCONTRES DANS LES EXPERIENCES. LE ROLE DES SYMETRIES DISCRETE ET CONTINUE D'UN VERRE DE SPIN XY AUX LIENS J ALEATOIRES EST EXAMINE POUR UN RESEAU BIDIMENSIONNEL COMPACTIFIE (UN TUBE), DANS UN DEUXIEME CHAPITRE. ON CONSIDERE LES LONGUEURS DE CORRELATION RESPECTIFS ET MONTRE QU'ILS DIVERGENT, POUR TO, AVEC LE MEME EXPOSANT. CECI SUGGERE QUE LES TRANSITIONS EN DIMENSION ELEVEE, ASSOCIEES A CES SYMETRIES, APPARTIENNENT A LA MEME CLASSE D'UNIVERSALITE. DANS UN TROISIEME CHAPITRE, ON ANALYSE L'ETAT CRITIQUE DU VERRE DE SPIN D'ISING EN BASSE DIMENSION ET MET EN EVIDENCE LES CONSEQUENCES GEOMETRIQUES DU PHENOMENE DE CHAOS. UNE STRUCTURE MULTIFRACTALE APPARAIT DANS LES CORRELATIONS AU POINT CRITIQUE. ON PRESENTE LES CONSEQUENCES DE L'INHOMOGENEITE DU SYSTEME DANS L'ESPACE POUR LA DYNAMIQUE ET POUR LE COMPORTEMENT DANS UN CHAMP MAGNETIQUE UNIFORME. ENFIN, DANS UN QUATRIEME ET DERNIER CHAPITRE, UN DEVELOPPEMENT D'UNE PREMIERE THEORIE PHENOMENOLOGIQUE POUR LE VERRE DE SPIN D'ISING QUANTIQUE EN DIMENSION FINIE EST ENTREPRIS

Book Description
This book reveals unique transport phenomena and functionalities in topological insulators coupled with magnetism and superconductivity. Topological insulators are a recently discovered class of materials that possess a spin-momentum-locked surface state. Their exotic spin texture makes them an exciting platform for investigating emergent phenomena, especially when coupled with magnetism or superconductivity. Focusing on the strong correlation between electricity and magnetism in magnetic topological insulators, the author presents original findings on current-direction-dependent nonreciprocal resistance, current-induced magnetization reversal and chiral edge conduction at the domain wall. In addition, he demonstrates how the coupling between superconductivity and topological surface state leads to substantial nonreciprocal resistance. The author also elucidates the origins of these phenomena and deepens readers’ understanding of the topologically nontrivial electronic state. The book includes several works which are published in top journals and were selected for the President’s Award by the University of Tokyo and for the Ikushi Prize, awarded to distinguished Ph.D. students in Japan.

Book Description
This book presents a complete study of natural orbitals in quantum impurity problems, revealing a certain simplicity in these interacting many-body problems. These systems consist of a few localized degrees of freedom that undergo strong interactions and hybridize with a larger system of free particles; they are central in the study of strongly correlated systems. In a first step, the standard non-perturbative numerical renormalization group method is employed to demonstrate the hierarchical structure of correlations unveiled by natural orbitals. This simplification brought new insights for simulating quantum impurity problems, and a new algorithm is developed to generate an optimized subset of natural orbitals independently of existing methods, going beyond their usual limitations. This algorithm is presented in detail in the book, and a careful benchmark on known results is carried out to guarantee the validity of the method. It is then used to study spatial entanglement structures under various conditions that were not accessible with previous methods, such as representing the electron bath by a realistic 2D square lattice or taking account of static disorder in the metallic host. In the last chapter, the non-interacting problem in the presence of disorder is studied through random matrix theory, reproducing some of the results presented in the previous chapters. The main original result of this chapter lies in the analytical calculation of the joint distribution of one-particle orbitals energies and amplitudes of the impurity, which makes it possible to calculate any disordered averaged local correlation functions. Starting from this result, calculations in the large-N limit are compared with numerical simulations.
