Book Description
This PhD thesis is divided into three chapters: Introduction, Results and Discussion and Experimental Part. First part of chapter one is a review of compounds incorporating diamine moieties. Nowadays, it is one of the most investigated area of studies in several fields. Their uses in medicine and in chemistry will be discussed. However, attention will be refunded mainly on the use of diamines in organic synthesis as chiral auxiliaries, as chiral ligands in asymmetric synthesis or as organocatalysts. Additionally, the selected methods for their preparation will be given. In the second part of chapter one, the research area of the phosphorus-heteroatom heterocyclic compounds will be the main focus. This part of chapter one will present the cyclisation process of chiral diamines around the phosphorus atom. The cyclisation step affords heterocycles containing a trivalent or pentavalent stereogenic phosphorus atom. Finally, the application of these compounds in catalyzed transition metal transformations will be discussed. The investigation, presented in terms of the current thesis in chapter two, covers the preparation of various diamine ligands based on camphoric acid. The chiral diamine ligands with nitrogen atoms containing the same or different substituents will be described and their application in to the nitroaldol reaction presented which provides an easy access to chiral -nitroalcohols in high enantioselectivity up to 84% and excellent yield in up to 93%. The further transformations of the secondary chiral diamines into heterocycles containing phosphorus atom in quantitative yields in up to 97% without any purification and their application as ligands or as versatile chiral shift reagents will be also discussed in the second chapter. Lastly, the third chapter is the collection of experimental procedures and data of the presented work. ; eng

Book Description
Comprehensive Supramolecular Chemistry II, Second Edition, Nine Volume Set is a ‘one-stop shop’ that covers supramolecular chemistry, a field that originated from the work of researchers in organic, inorganic and physical chemistry, with some biological influence. The original edition was structured to reflect, in part, the origin of the field. However, in the past two decades, the field has changed a great deal as reflected in this new work that covers the general principles of supramolecular chemistry and molecular recognition, experimental and computational methods in supramolecular chemistry, supramolecular receptors, dynamic supramolecular chemistry, supramolecular engineering, crystallographic (engineered) assemblies, sensors, imaging agents, devices and the latest in nanotechnology. Each section begins with an introduction by an expert in the field, who offers an initial perspective on the development of the field. Each article begins with outlining basic concepts before moving on to more advanced material. Contains content that begins with the basics before moving on to more complex concepts, making it suitable for advanced undergraduates as well as academic researchers Focuses on application of the theory in practice, with particular focus on areas that have gained increasing importance in the 21st century, including nanomedicine, nanotechnology and medicinal chemistry Fully rewritten to make a completely up-to-date reference work that covers all the major advances that have taken place since the First Edition published in 1996

Book Description
The first handbook to focus on the asymmetric synthesis of different types of three-membered rings. The outstanding and experienced authors have an excellent international reputation and cover cyclopropanes, epoxides and aziridines as well as chiral oxaziridines in equal measure. To this end, they describe in detail different synthetic approaches starting with chiral substrates as well as the application of chiral metal- or organocatalysts. Furthermore, methods for the kinetic resolution of initially racemic products are treated alongside recent advances and novel developments in established techniques for the synthesis of three-membered rings. With its structured composition this is of high interest to scientists in methodological and natural product synthesis as well as those in industrial and pharmaceutical chemistry.

Book Description
In chemistry, biology, and physics, "chirality" is an important concept in nature. Especially in chemistry, not only classical stereochemistry but also asymmetric organic synthesis, supramolecular chemistry, construction of bio-related molecules and molecular recognition became indispensable structural chemical keywords. However, in view of synthetic chemistry and its structural chemistry, chemistry dealing with chirality in relation to the more fundamental electronic state is still a minority. This book is particularly aimed at chiroptical spectroscopy, structural or physical features and theoretical computation of chirality.

Book Description
This title takes researchers in as well as out of the field of metal-organic framework (MOF) and then guides them on a journey to rediscover and rethink how these designer coordination polymers will influence the realm of materials science. This book opens with a look at a deeply controversial issue, MOF stability, which has plagued many systems, but ultimately has led to better materials that proved to be more robust allowing them to be investigated for multiple applications. This book successfully highlights many of these useful applications that MOFs are well adapted for. Because MOF components, inorganic and organic, can combine the best of both chemical domains, MOFs will improve our environment by removing harmful contaminants from the air and water, reduce the energy required to perform chemical reactions, partition hard to separate molecular mixtures, and form the next-generation of magnetic and electronic materials. MOFs will eventually be used for everyday activities — for monitoring or reacting to changing conditions. Readers of this book can then take note and implement MOFs in their line of research.

Book Description
Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are porous crystalline polymers constructed by metal sites and organic building blocks. Since the discovery of MOFs in the 1990s, they have received tremendous research attention for various applications due to their high surface area, controllable morphology, tunable chemical properties, and multifunctionalities, including MOFs as precursors and self-sacrificing templates for synthesizing metal oxides, heteroatom-doped carbons, metal-atoms encapsulated carbons, and others. Thus, awareness and knowledge about MOFs and their derived nanomaterials with conceptual understanding are essential for the advanced material community. This breakthrough new volume aims to explore down-to-earth applications in fields such as biomedical, environmental, energy, and electronics. This book provides an overview of the structural and fundamental properties, synthesis strategies, and versatile applications of MOFs and their derived nanomaterials. It gives an updated and comprehensive account of the research in the field of MOFs and their derived nanomaterials. Whether as a reference for industry professionals and nanotechnologists or for use in the classroom for graduate and postgraduate students, faculty members, and research and development specialists working in the area of inorganic chemistry, materials science, and chemical engineering, this is a must-have for any library.
