Book Description
We have studied the B{sup ±} → J/[psi][pi]{sup ±} and B{sup ±} → J/[psi] K{sup ±} decays using a 20.7 fb−1 data set collected with the BABAR detector. We observe a signal of 51 ± 10 B{sup ±} → J/[psi][pi]{sup ±} events and determine the ratio [Beta](B{sup {+-}} → J/[psi][pi]{sup {+-}})/[Beta](B{sup {+-}} → J/[psi] K{sup {+-}}) to be [3.91 {+-} 0.78(stat.) {+-} 0.19(syst.)]%. The CP-violating charge asymmetries for the B{sup {+-}} → J/[psi] [pi]{sup {+-}} and B{sup {+-}} → J/[psi] K{sup {+-}} decays are determined to be [Alpha]{sub {pi}} = 0.01 {+-} 0.22(stat.) {+-} 0.01(syst.) and [Alpha]{sub K} = 0.003 {+-} 0.030(stat.) {+-} 0.004(syst.).

Book Description
BABAR has studied the time dependent asymmetries in the decays B[sup 0][yields] J/[psi]K[sub s][sup 0] and B[sup 0][yields][psi](2S) K[sub s][sup 0] in a data set of 9.0 fb[sup -1] taken at the[Upsilon](4S) resonance. In these channels we reconstruct 168 events of which 120 are flavor tagged and used in a likelihood fit where we determine sin 2[beta]. The flavor of the other neutral B mesons is tagged using information primarily from identified leptons and Kaons. A neural network is used to recover events without any clear Kaon or lepton signature. A preliminary result of sin 2[beta]= 0.12[+-] 0.37[+-] 0.09 is obtained.

Book Description
The BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric B Factory at SLAC collected a sample of 23 x 10[sup 6] B[bar B] pairs in the years 1999 and 2000. Using this data sample, we measure the amplitude of the time-dependent CP-violating asymmetry in neutral B decays to the CP eigenstates J/[psi] K[sub S][sup 0], [psi](2S) K[sub S][sup 0] and J/[psi] K[sub L][sup 0]. We find a value of sin2[beta]= 0.34[+-] 0.20(stat)[+-] 0.05(syst). We also present preliminary measurements of the B[sup 0][bar B][sup 0] oscillation frequency and of the lifetimes of charged and neutral B mesons.

Book Description
During the first year of data taking, the 1999-2000 run, the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric collider has collected an integrated luminosity of 20.7 fb[sup -1] corresponding to 22.7 million B[bar B] pairs at the[Upsilon](4S) resonance. Using this data, we present the measurement of sin2[beta] based on samples of B[sup 0][yields] J/[psi] K[sub S][sup 0], B[sup 0][yields][psi](2S) K[sub S][sup 0] and B[sup 0][yields] J/[psi] K[sub L][sup 0] L decays. Our measured value is sin2[beta]= 0.34[+-] 0.20 (stat)[+-] 0.05 (syst). In addition we report on the measurement of branching fractions for exclusive B decays to charmonium final states, measurements of charged and neutral B meson lifetimes and also the B[sup 0][bar B][sup 0] oscillation frequency.

Book Description
We present measurements related to the CKM angle [beta] from BABAR based on 82 or [approx]115 fb[sup -1] data samples collected at the PEP-II e[sup +]e[sup -] asymmetric B Factory collider. A new method allowing to measure the sign of cos2[beta] with B[sup 0] [yields] J/[psi] ''K*[sup 0]'' events is explained and related results reported. Recent CP measurements in the penguin dominated modes B[sup 0] [yields] [phi]K[sup 0], B[sup 0] [yields] K[sup +] K[sup -] K[sub S][sup 0], B[sup 0] [yields] [pi][sup 0] K[sub S][sup 0] and B[sup 0] [yields] f[sub 0] (980)K[sub S][sup 0] are presented.

Book Description
We present results on B {yields} J/{psi} K{pi} decays using e{sup +}e{sup -} annihilation data collected with the BABAR detector at the {Upsilon}(4S) resonance. The detector is located at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy storage ring facility at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. Using approximately 88 million B{bar B} pairs, we measure the decay amplitudes for the flavor eigenmodes and observe strong-phase differences indicative of final-state interactions with a significance of 7.6 standard deviations. We use the interference between the K{pi} S-wave and P-wave amplitudes in the region of the K*(892) to resolve the ambiguity in the determination of these strong phases. We then perform an ambiguity-free measurement of cos 2{beta} using the angular and time-dependent asymmetry in B {yields} J/{psi} K*{sup 0} (K{sub S}{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0}) decays. With sin2{beta} fixed at its measured value and cos2{beta} treated as an independent parameter, we find cos 2{beta} = 2.72{sub -0.79}{sup +0.50}(stat) {+-} 0.27(syst), determining the sign of cos 2{beta} to be positive at 86% CL.

Book Description
The BABAR detector, operating at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric B Factory, has collected a sample of 32 million B[bar B] pairs by May 2001, at energies close to the[Upsilon](4S) resonance. The measurement of sin2[beta]= 0.59[+-] 0.14(stat)[+-] 0.05(syst), performed with a study of time-dependent CP-violating asymmetries in neutral B decays, establishes CP violation at the 4[sigma] level. In addition, preliminary results on CP-violating asymmetries in the decay channel B[sup 0][yields][pi][sup+][pi][sup -] are presented.
