Book Description
To celebrate Singapore’s fiftieth anniversary for its independence from Malaysia in 2015, 35 students, academics and activists came together to discuss and write about pioneering Singaporean human rights activists and their under-reported stories in Singapore. The city-state is known for its remarkable economic success while having strict laws on individual freedom in the name of national security, public order and racial harmony. Singapore’s tough stance on human rights, however, does not negate the long and persistent existence of a human rights society that is little known to the world until today. This volume, composed of nine distinctive chapters, records a history of human rights activists, their campaigns, main contentions with the government, survival strategies and other untold stories in Singapore’s first 50 years of state-building.

Book Description
The mission of APTS to train workers under the leadership of the Holy Spirit for the Lord's harvest in Asia and Pacific Oceania has remained unchanged for the last sixty years, although the methods and strategies to do so must be altered from time to time. This expanded edition includes the story of how this has been done over the last twenty years, taking into account the rapid changes in technology and educational delivery systems, especially in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Dave Johnson, D.Miss. From the Preface of the Second Edition Much of this history comes from the first-person accounts of those who were directly involved, especially those who served in the role of president. In addition to these reflections, catalogs, school annuals, board minutes, presidential reports, internal memoranda, photo collections and other documents were consulted. Since few of these are public documents were consulted. Since few of these are public documents and the content was verified by those directly involved, we determined that it would be of limited value to footnote such sources. However, all sources remain a part of these APTS archives and are available to anyone interested in further research. The FEAST/APST story provides a striking example of God's sovereign direction of missionaries, educators, and national leaders over many years to develop an institution of exceptional quality for training of young men and women for Pentecostal ministry in their own nations. As a fundamental strategy to advance the kingdom of God around the world, the training of national leaders has remained a significant emphasis of Assemblies of God missions to this day. I pray that this accounting of the events that led to the development of FEAST/APST will serve as an inspiration to those who continue to devote themselves to Great Commission ministry. John F. Carter, Ph.D. From the preface of the First Edition

Physics and Astrophysics of Neutrinos
Author: Masataka Fukugita
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 4431670297
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 947
Book Description
Observations of neutrinos being emitted by the supernova SN1987A, star neutrinos, and atmospheric neutrinos have provided new insights into astronomy, as well as new unresolved phenomena such as the solar neutrino problem, spurring investigative studies among particle physicists and astrophysicists. One of the most important features of this book is its enumeration of a number of basic properties of neutrinos and their relationship to Grand Unified Theories, focusing on the origin of the neutrino's mass and the generation mixing of neutrinos. All the kamiokande results, detector performances, and complete references are included.

Particle Physics and Cosmology: Dark Matter
Author: M. Srednicki
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0444596097
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 382
Book Description
At least eighty percent of the mass of the universe consists of some material which, unlike ordinary matter, neither emits nor absorbs light. This book collects key papers related to the discovery of this astonishing fact and its profound implications for astrophysics, cosmology, and the physics of elementary particles. The book focuses on the likely possibility that the dark matter is composed of an as yet undiscovered elementary particle, and examines the boundaries of our present knowledge of the properties such a particle must possess.
