When the Park Board was created by legislative act, with a bond fund of at its dis posal, of which was required to be devoted to the improvement of Como Park. That the first steps were taken in that direction. Prof. W. H. S. Cleveland, a well-known landscape gardener, was employed to lay out a system of roadways through the park. The next few years were devoted to the construction of the main roads of his plan. Which has since been considerably improved and extended by Superintendent Nussbaumer.
