Cette dernière dimension de la mobilité est au coeur de cet ouvrage, dont l'ambition est d'analyser dans quelle mesure les mobilités résidentielles contribuent au creusement des inégalités sociales et territoriales et de discuter le rôle des politiques publiques dans les processus de mise en mobilité des habitants des territoires populaires. Dans un contexte de compétition entre les territoires, les mobilités résidentielles sont ainsi interrogées dans leur propension à renforcer les inégalités socio-spatiales, notamment entre les espaces qui sont en mesure de capter les populations les plus " désirables " et ceux qui au contraire ne parviennent qu'à accueillir les populations les plus "captives". Les mobilités résidentielles sont également analysées en lien avec les trajectoires sociales, mettant en avant les déterminants sociaux des choix résidentiels. Enfin, les contributions réunies dans cet ouvrage discutent les orientations des politiques publiques incitant à la mobilité des classes populaires. A cet égard, les contributions révèlent l'importance de l'ancrage et les formes de résistance à la mobilité des habitants des territoires populaires. Dans ce cadre, les politiques de rénovation urbaine étudiées offrent des illustrations particulièrement intéressantes des tensions comme des impensés des politiques tournées vers la mobilité résidentielle.
