Book Description
Each of us has experienced difficult times when we question our self-worth or perhaps battle with confusion, disappointment, despair, or frustration. Are you going through a struggle that makes you feel like you are stuck in murky quicksand, unable to break free or begin anew? I’ve lived through times when days seem to be painted a dull drab gray, and it appeared I’d closed myself off in a human capsule, unable to relate to the world around me. Many times, I’ve come to realize that my perceptions of things have created nonexistent monsters like those created in our minds as children. However, I am learning that God doesn’t leave me alone to work through difficult situations by myself like a shipwrecked sailor on a deserted island. I find that my poor judgment or bad decision often further complicates the dilemma I’m confronting. Relief comes to me when I stop blaming God for whatever nightmare I am facing and devote quiet time in prayer with Him. God’s response doesn’t come like a light streaming from the heavens or a bright, colorful rainbow shining outside my window; it’s more like an Alaskan ice cap that slowly begins to thaw and break up with the warmth of the spring rain. As I pour out my heartfelt problems to God, creative solutions spring forth in my mind like an arrow shot from the quiver of a bow, destined to find its mark in the very heart of my problem. A new idea and hope emerges that propels me to make a sound decision to rejoin the imperfect human race, fight the good fight, and run the race of life. Through the years I have come to know that God loves us more deeply than we love ourselves. God never abandons us but waits patiently and lovingly for us to call out for His help. I admit there are times I don’t understand His ways. However, as I put my trust in God by earnestly and honestly seeking His guidance and grace for my life, all the difficulties I’m having seem to become easier with which to deal. Complex issues seem to melt like ice cream on a hot summer day. By inviting God to be the rudder of my ship each day, my life has taken on a bright new meaning. It can be like the excitement of starting to read an exciting new novel, wondering what wonderful surprise and blessing God has in store for me in the next pages. In sacred scriptures, we read that God inhibits the praises and answers the prayers of His people. He can and will move the mountains and obstacles that often feel like handcuffs upon our wrists. God will bring us comfort, peace, and joy as we put our trust in Him and give God the freedom to work in our lives. May this collection of poems be a source of inspiration to each reader and foster renewed hope in your heart.

Book Description
From the author of Some Girls Do and Hot Dog Girl comes a sweet and salty queer YA rom-com about two girls on a summer road trip in an ice cream truck. Fallon is Type A, looks before she leaps, and always has a plan (and a backup plan). Chloe is happy-go-lucky, flies by the seat of her pants, and always follows her bliss. The two girls used to be best friends, but last summer they hooked up right before Chloe left for college, and after a series of misunderstandings, they aren’t even speaking to each other. A year later, Chloe’s back home from school, and Fallon is doing everything in her power to avoid her. Which is especially difficult because their moms own a business together—a gourmet ice cream truck where both girls work. When a meeting with some promising potential investors calls their parents away at the last minute, it’s up to Fallon to work a series of important food truck festivals across the country. But she can’t do it alone, and Chloe is the only one available to help. Tensions heat up again between the two girls as they face a few unexpected detours—and more than a little roadside attraction. But maybe, just maybe, the best things in life can’t always be planned.

Book Description
As the authors state in their opening chapter, prepare to be amazed. This beautiful book describes the revolution that the Reggio Emiliaatelier (art studio) brought to the education of young children in Italy, and follows that revolution across the ocean to North America. It explores how the experiences of children interacting with rich materials in the atelier affect an entire school's approach to the construction and expression of thought and learning. Lavishly illustrated in full color, this original volume: includes detailed interviews with Italian educators from Reggio Emilia; offers a window into many ateliers within the United States, examining the multiple ways that experience is altered when teachers, parents, and children prepare and work together in the studio setting; addresses the practical aspects of the atelier, including organizing the environment, using materials, and provides examples of projects; and features a comprehensive approach that addresses many varied issues related to children, including learning, collaboration, relationships, and community.

Book Description
A refreshing change in every respect When you are working with great ingredients, you want to keep it simple. You don’t want to blur flavor by overcomplicating. This is why Pure Dessert, from the beloved Alice Medrich, offers the simplest of recipes, using the fewest ingredients in the most interesting ways. There are no glazes, fillings, or frostings—just dessert at its purest, most elemental, and most flavorful. Alice deftly takes us places we haven’t been, using, for example, whole grains, usually reserved for breads, to bring a lovely nutty quality to cookies and strawberry shortcake. Pound cake takes on a new identity with a touch of olive oil and sherry. Unexpected cheeses make divine soufflés. Chestnut flour and walnuts virtually transform meringue. Varietal honeys and raw sugars infuse ice creams and sherbets with delectable new flavor. Inspired choices of ingredients are at the heart of this collection of entirely new recipes: sesame brittle ice cream, corn-flour tuiles with tangy sea salt and a warming bite of black pepper, honey caramels, strawberries with single-malt sabayon. To witness Alice’s idea-stream as she describes how she arrived at each combination is to instantly understand why three of her books have won Best Cookbook of the Year. She’s an experimenter, tinkerer, and sleuth, fascinated with trial and error, with the effects of small changes in recipes, exploring combinations tirelessly and making remarkable discoveries. Does cold cream or hot cream do a better job coaxing out the flavor of mint leaves or rose petals? Why is it that dusting a warm brownie with spices gives it an enticing aromatic nose, whereas putting the spice in the batter blurs the chocolate flavor? Do cooked strawberries or raw make for the better sorbet? Loaded with advice and novel suggestions, with great recipes and eye-catching, full-color photographs that show off these simple, straightforward desserts, Pure Dessert is an education and a revelation. Thank you, Alice!

Book Description
If you read wine reviews, you're already either amused or confused by the soaring language wine writers often use to describe what they're smelling and tasting. But do you always know what they mean? Have you ever sipped a complex white and sensed what's so colorfully described as a peacock's tail? Have you ever savored a full-bodied red only to detect the ripe acrid smell of a horse stall? If not, you're in for a treat, because these terms and thousands more are all here to amuse, dismay, enlighten, inspire, puzzle, and utterly shock you . Welcome to the rich linguistic universe of wine speak: a world where words and wine intersect in an uncontrolled riot of language guaranteed to keep you entertained for hours. The author, a lifelong lover of both wine and words, has compiled and organized this unique thesaurus of 36,975 wine tasting descriptors into 20 special collections extracted from 27 categories so you can locate exactly the right term or phrase to express yourself clearly or to understand others. May your path across the galaxy of wine be paved only with labels from the very best bottles on earth. Or, much more cautiously, with wines that could introduce you to angel pee, citronella, eastern European fruit soup, Godzilla, iodine, ladies' underwear, mustard gas, old running shoes, rawhide, hot tar roads, bubblegum, sweaty saddles, crushed ants, kitchen drains, or even turpentine.

Book Description
In the stunning conclusion to the Matchstick Man saga that began with Event and continued with Legacy, the End of Days is upon humanity---invasion has arrived! Some speculate that the war between the two worlds began 700 million years ago, while others say it started in 1947 over a small town in New Mexico called Roswell. Regardless of dates, the war is now upon us, and after centuries of watching, the enemy attacked. The plans of a million years are finally ready for what we have always known was coming---Armageddon. As world allies fall to the wayside, a growing political faction from several nations sends a clear signal that cooperation between the superpowers and the lesser states cannot succeed. As nations start a mad scramble to realign their military structures, the war begins silently in the depths of the oceans, and flares to global brightness with the first military strike in history between two different worlds. Only one element in the arsenal of the world can possibly give Earth a fighting chance at survival---a small being that has already saved the world once in the Arizona desert is now called upon to outthink his former masters---the Matchstick Man. While Matchstick Man searches for the real motivation behind the invasion, the Event Group is the one entity that refuses to accept the inevitable defeat of humankind. They've learned that the answer to this war has always been here on earth buried deeply in our ancient past, and that they may even hold the clue to salvation inside their own artifact vault. But with the devastating loss of its military arm and one of their leaders, Colonel Jack Collins, the group is being torn apart by internal conflict and devastating personal decisions. Even worse, the group's old enemies have returned to take revenge, and the worst fears of Department 5656 are realized---a breach in security allows intruders to get at the secrets inside the complex in Nevada. Can the group come together to defeat their enemy and defend the planet? As the war wages on, countries fall, nations fight to the last man, and the fate of the planet depends on a few good men and women in this action-packed thrill ride from New York Times bestselling author David L. Golemon.
