Par ses connaissances, le pharmacien d'officine doit sensibiliser ses patients au bon usage de ces médecines douces et il pourra s'inscrire dans une prise en charge naturelle. Dans les années qui viennent les études cliniques seront plus nombreuses et ces médecines douces pourront se placer en première ligne pour soulager les maux du quotidien et s'associer à l'allopathie.

La médecine par les plantes est connue depuis des siècles. Moins utilisée avec l'industrialisation du médicament, elle réapparait aujourd'hui avec l'engouement pour le bio dans la société. La volonté des patients de se soigner par des MAC, Médecines Alternatives et Complémentaires est de plus en plus en vogue. La demande s'accroissant d'année en année, les pharmaciens ont le devoir de proposer et de se former sur les MAC disponibles en officine. Le travail de cette étude se focalise sur l'aromathérapie et la phytothérapie. La première partie présente l'évolution de ces thérapeutiques à travers l'évolution du métier de pharmacien. La seconde partie se penche sur le questionnaire envoyé aux pharmaciens d'officine, ayant pour objectif d'évaluer la place occupée par ces MAC dans leurs pratiques pour établir un état des lieux. Le questionnaire a été diffusé auprès de 235 pharmaciens. Les résultats d'enquêtes permettent de confirmer la place essentielle de l'aromathérapie et de la phytothérapie dans les pratiques du pharmacien d'officine aujourd'hui. Ils mettent en avant l'importance de l'image pour ces derniers d'une pharmacie tournée vers le naturel. L'aromathérapie et la phytothérapie sont donc porteuses d'un enjeu bien plus vaste que celui de leur aspect thérapeutique. Elles peuvent être le vecteur de renforcement de l'image du pharmacien dans son statut de professionnel de santé. Elles consolident le lien de confiance entre le patient et son pharmacien, spécialiste facilement accessible.
