What are the implications of strategic manoeuvring for the activity of the simultaneous interpreter? This is the main question addressed in The Quest for Argumentative Equivalence. Based on the analysis of a multilingual comparable corpus named ARGO, the book investigates political argumentation with an eye to its reformulation by interpreters. After reporting and discussing a series of case studies illustrating interpreters’ problems in the political context, the study reconstructs the prototypical argumentative patterns used by Obama, Cameron, Sarkozy and Hollande not only in a hermeneutical perspective, but also considering interpreters’ need to reproduce them into a foreign language. Situated at the intersection of Argumentation Theory and Interpreting Studies, the book provides a contribution to the descriptive study of political argumentation, highlighting the presence of interpreters as a key contextual variable in political communication and deepening the study of the interlinguistic and translational implications of the act of arguing.

Introduction : L'objectif de ce mémoire est de comprendre si la crise sanitaire a eu un impact sur la formation professionnelle. La première partie sera consacrée à des aspects généraux de la formation en relation avec le contexte de crise sanitaire. Dans une seconde partie nous présenterons les différents dispositifs de formation qui existent. Méthodes : Une enquête a été réalisée auprès des collaborateurs des Résidences Domitys d'Amboise et de Fondettes à l'aide d'un questionnaire. C'est une analyse qualitative et quantitative afm de comprendre la perception des salariés sur la formation en lien avec la crise sanitaire. Conclusion: La formation permet aux collaborateurs d'accroître leurs compétences professionnelles, mais également leurs compétences personnelles. Dans cette enquête il est ressorti en majorité qu'il ne manquait pas d'aptitudes face à cette situation de crise sanitaire et peu de besoins en formation ont été exprimés.

The studies contained in this volume present a sampling of policy and legislation relating to adult learning in various parts of the world. They were produced in the context of a more complete survey, under the auspices of the UNESCO Institute for Education (UIE) in cooperation with the University of Florence, which sought to identify tendencies in this field over the past few years. The international research project, under which these of Paul national studies were made, was developed under the direction Belanger, Director of UIE, and Paolo Federighi, Professor at the University of Florence. An international publication by the two project directors, due to appear at the beginning of 1997, will report on the findings of the project, which involves 26 countries. The contributions presented here reflect a broad geographical spectrum as well as a wide range of policy models. From an analysis of these studies, it is apparent that this is a field in which there has been much innovation and which encompasses markedly varying approaches in response to different national conditions.
