W3 North
Author: National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)
Publisher: Createspace Independent Publishing Platform
ISBN: 9781723452680
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 24
Book Description
The W3 North (G133.8 + 1.4) source is the northernmost member of a string of active star forming regions that marks the western boundary of the giant HII region W4. Far infrared and radio observations of molecular CO were made of the W3 star forming region. The W3 North object shows extended dust and gas emission which suggests a fairly advanced disruption of a molecular cloud. An estimate of the age of the embedded HII region is given, and emission maps of the W3 object are presented. The W3 North source may be the oldest object among the W3 complex of sources. Thronson, H. A., Jr. and Schwartz, P. R. and Smith, H. A. and Lada, C. J. and Glaccum, W. and Harper, D. A. Ames Research Center NASA-TM-85961, A-9755, NAS 1.15:85961

Star Formation and Techniques in Infrared and Mm-wave Astronomy
Author: Thomas P. Ray
Publisher: Springer
ISBN:
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 336
Book Description
The rapid growth in our understanding of how stars form owes a lot to recent developments in techniques for carrying out infrared and millimeter-wave astronomy. Thus Star Formation and Techniques in mm-Wave Astronomy were natural joint themes for the Fifth EADN Predoctoral Astrophysics School held at the Technische Universität Berlin. The lecture courses by six world-class experts are aimed at postgraduate students and scientists with a non-specialist interest in the field. Topics include molecular clouds, T Tauri stars, OB stars, observation methods in infrared and mm astronomy, as well as high resolution techniques.
