Book Description
The Holy Father (Pope Leo XIII) exhorts priests to say this prayer as often as possible, as a simple exorcism to curb the power of the devil and prevent him from doing harm. The faithful also may say it in their own name, for the same purpose, as any approved prayer. Its use is recommended whenever action of the devil is suspected, causing malice in men, violent temptations and even storms and various calamities. It could be used as a solemn exorcism (an official and public ceremony, in Latin), to expel the devil. It would then be said by a priest, in the name of the Church and only with a Bishop's permission.

Book Description
A biography of Tiefenbrunner, born in 1914 in Wiesbaden. Pp. 31-81 deal with the Holocaust period. In 1938 Tiefenbrunner immigrated to Belgium, where he opened a home for German Jewish refugee children in Brussels. He married in 1940. In 1942 the Tiefenbrunner Home became one of the seven orphanages which operated under the auspices of the Association des Juifs en Belgique (AJB), and the only one which was religiously Orthodox. Between 1942-44 hundreds of children passed through the home, which had a capacity for ca. 40 children at any one time. Notes that feeding the children was a constant problem. After the liberation in September 1944, Tiefenbrunner continued to run the home as an orphanage for child survivors; it closed in 1960 and Tiefenbrunner died in 1962. His parents and five of his siblings perished in the Holocaust; he and two siblings survived. The book is based on interviews with family members and survivors who spent time in the home as children, relating their stories as well. Pp. 155-171 contain an account of his wartime experiences by Aron Peterfreund.

Book Description
A stunning debut about a young Greek-American woman and the history she shares with her mother and grandmother. Imam is a recipe known throughout villages in Greece, handed down from mother to daughter. If you come from these villages, your history is passed on through your body. Its full name is imam baildi, and it means the priest fainted. Perhaps the priest was given a bit of bitter and sweet pleasure, and the power of everything behind the dish pushed him off his rock, just for a moment. Perhaps, when he was tumbling through the air, sighing with fear and ecstasy, he saw a glimpse of a new life to come. Layered with love affairs, family squabbles, poignant misunderstandings, moments of wonder, and more, The Priest Fainted is nothing less than the recipe for a young Greek-American woman's life. Using her imagination and the stories passed through her bones as ingredients, Catherine Temma Davidson uses memories, Greek myths, recipes, and family gossip to uncover a hidden history, which is the story of one woman's year in Greece as it crosses and doubles back over the lives of her mother and grandmother.
