Book Description
Engineers need to be familiar with the fundamental principles and concepts in materials and structures in order to be able to design structurers to resist failures. For 4 decades, this book has provided engineers with these fundamentals. Thoroughly updated, the book has been expanded to cover everything on materials and structures that engineering students are likely to need. Starting with basic mechanics, the book goes on to cover modern numerical techniques such as matrix and finite element methods. There is also additional material on composite materials, thick shells, flat plates and the vibrations of complex structures. Illustrated throughout with worked examples, the book also provides numerous problems for students to attempt. New edition introducing modern numerical techniques, such as matrix and finite element methods Covers requirements for an engineering undergraduate course on strength of materials and structures

Book Description
Theoretical and experimental study of the mechanical behavior of structures under load Analysis of Engineering Structures and Material Behavior is a textbook covering introductory and advanced topics in structural analysis. It begins with an introduction to the topic, before covering fundamental concepts of stress, strain and information about mechanical testing of materials. Material behaviors, yield criteria and loads imposed on the engineering elements are also discussed. The book then moves on to cover more advanced areas including relationships between stress and strain, rheological models, creep of metallic materials and fracture mechanics. Finally, the finite element method and its applications are considered. Key features: Covers introductory and advanced topics in structural analysis, including load, stress, strain, creep, fatigue and finite element analysis of structural elements. Includes examples and considers mathematical formulations. A pedagogical approach to the topic. Analysis of Engineering Structures and Material Behavior is suitable as a textbook for structural analysis and mechanics courses in structural, civil and mechanical engineering, as well as a valuable guide for practicing engineers.

Book Description
The book systematically presents variational principles and methods of analysis for applied elasticity and structural mechanics. The variational approach is used consistently for both, constructing numerical procedures and deriving basic governing equations of applied mechanics of solids; it is the derivation of equations where this approach is most powerful and best grounded by mathematics.

Book Description
This volume describes engineering applications of the mechanics of deformable bodies and the elasticity theory relevant to them. It is concerned mainly with one-dimensional problems, which arise because either one of the dimensions of a body is much greater than the remaining two or the functions of two or three variables may be reduced to one variable.Problems of this type are of twofold importance. Firstly, many engineering problems can be described with sufficient accuracy just in this way. Secondly, unidimensional problems with known analytical solutions may serve either for testing numerical methods or for the analysis of fundamental concepts and phenomena, whose physical nature in three-dimensional approach might be obscured by the analytical-numerical aspect. The authors have confined themselves for the most part to the analysis of elastic behaviour of structures; however some attention is also given to elastic problems. A deterministic approach has been applied throughout the book. It will serve as a springboard for further work with stochastic approaches which are being increasingly used in engineering practice today.

Book Description
For undergraduate, introductory level courses in Statics and Strength of Materials, in departments of Mechanical Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Technology or Manufacturing Engineering Technology This text features a strong presentation of the fundamentals of strength of materials (or mechanics of materials) integrated with an emphasis on applications to many fields of engineering and engineering technology. The approach to mathematics use in the book satisfies both those programs where calculus use is expected and those for which college algebra and trigonometry are the prerequisite skills needed by the students.

Book Description
This second edition of the textbook presents a systematic introduction to the structural mechanics of composite components. The book focusses on modeling and calculation of sandwiches and laminated composites i.e. anisotropic material. The new edition includes an additional chapter covering the latest advances in both research and applications, which are highly relevant for readers. The textbook is written for use not only in engineering curricula of aerospace, civil and mechanical engineering, but also for materials science and applied mechanics. Furthermore, it addresses practicing engineers and researchers. No prior knowledge of composite materials and structures is required for the understanding of its content. The book is close to classical courses of "Strength of Materials" and "Theory of Beams, Plates and Shells" but it extends the classic content on two topics: the linear elastic material behavior of isotropic and non-isotropic structural elements, and inhomogeneous material properties in the thickness direction. The Finite Element Analysis of laminate and sandwich structures is briefly presented. Many solved examples illustrate the application of the techniques learned.
