La production de béton à Ultra Haute Performance (BUHP) a permis d'élargir le domaine d'emploi des bétons exposés à un environnement agressif, grâce à la haute performance ses propriétés mécaniques et de durabilité. La haute performance obtenue sur les BUHP est en partie due à sa faible porosité. Un BUHP qui se caractérise par une valeur faible de porosité et par de petits agrégats de taille maximale inférieure à 600 m est appelé Bétons de Poudres Réactives (BPR). Les bétons de poudres réactives (BPR) sont des matériaux cimentaires de nouvelle génération apparus en début des années 90. Leur principale particularité réside dans le très faible dosage en eau, le fort dosage en superplastifiant reducteur d'eau et la finesse des matériaux utilisés (ciment, fumée de silice, quartz broyé, sable fin). Ils sont notamment utilisés dans les ouvrages de génie civil nécessitant une haute performance. L'ajout de fumée de silice au ciment conduit à une augmentation des performances pour le BPR. Cette augmentation est due à la production supplémentaire de cilicate de calcium hydraté (CHS) par la réaction pouzzolanique. Les travaux réalisés dans cette thèse portent sur les propriétés des BPR, et en particulier le retrait chimique, la résistance en compression et la d'hydratation. Ces trois caractéristiques des BPR sont mesurée expérimentalement et sont calculées à l'aide d'un modèle développé aussi dans ce travail. Le modèle développé est basée sur le modèle de cinétique d'hydratation du ciment contenant la fumée de silice (FS). L'analyse et la comparaison entre les résultats expérimentaux et les résultats du modèle de prédiction sont relatées dans cette thèse. L'analyse et la comparaison visent à connaître l'effet de la concentration de la fumée de silice sur ces trois caractéristiques. Le contenu du mémoire de la thèse, se compose d'une étude bibliographique sur les propriétés du béton, une description des matériaux utilisés et méthodes d'essai pour l'analyse, la formulation du modèle de prédiction et la comparaison des résultats obtenus par le modèle et par l'expérimentation.
