It is thought he settled in the part of Dedham that, in 1711, was set off as Needham ... He was received into the First Church in Dedham, 19 d. 2 m. 1646; and was made freeman, May 6, 1646 ... His will, dated Sept. 8, and probated Oct. 30, 1677, is in Suffolk Co. probate records, vi: 207. His first wife, Lydia ( -- ), died 13 d. 8 m. 1651; he married second, 10 d. 9 m. 1652, Ann Donstall. He died Sept. 16, 1677"--Page 5, 7. Descendants lived in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, New York, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Utah, California and elsewhere.

Excerpt from Descendants of Andrew Dewing of Dedham, Mass: With Notes on Some English Families of the Name Tun collection of material for a Genealogy of the descendants of Andrew Dewing of Dedham, the results of which are given in the following pages, has occupied the leisure hours of the compiler for the last seven years. The foundation of the work was based on various manuscript notes made from time to time by the late Benjamin H. Dewing, of Revere (the father of the compiler), some of which may be found in the Library of the New England Historic Genealogical Society, on Somerset Street, Boston. He had successfully traced his direct ancestral line to the emigrant Andrew, but had given little study to the collateral lines of his descendants. To amplify and extend this material, and to bring those various lines down to the present time, as completely as possible, has been the effort of the compiler. In gathering this material he has been fairly successful, thanks to the assistance of various members of the family. With the exception of the descendants of William Dewing (son of Ephraim, who seems to have gone to Central New York about 1850, and of the two younger sons (leonard and Andrew) of Andrew concerning whom he has not been able to obtain any information beyond the dates of the birth of one and of the baptism of both, as found in the Natick Records, the several lines of most of the male descendants of the first Andrew, and in a large number of cases of the daughters also, are now traced.
