Les pathologies artérielles peuvent représenter souvent des situations cliniques graves qui nécessitent une prise en charge immédiate. Bien que la modification de la structure et de la géométrie vasculaire soit relativement lente et s'effectue pendant des années, les conséquences peuvent se révéler, tout à coup, fatales. Ce travail représente une contribution à la méthodologie de l'exploration du mouvement du sang, et des parois artérielles pour la caractérisation de l'élasticité artérielle, et mesurer la détérioration des parois artérielles de façon non invasive. Nous présentons deux protocoles d'imagerie dynamique basés sur une séquence d'écho de gradient dépouillée, avec une haute résolution temporelle (- 5 ms). La relation entre le signal-image et la vitesse d'un liquide est élucidée via un banc d'essai expérimental, testant l'influence des paramètres d'imagerie et des propriétés physiques du liquide de circulation. La reproductibilité du comportement du signal-image en fonction de la vitesse, a incité à proposer un estimateur basé de la vitesse du sang, et des essais de faisabilité in vivo sur la carotide ont été menés sur des volontaires saris, et comparés avec la technique de contraste de phase. L'application de la séquence sur deux coupes rapprochées a permis de réaliser le deuxième estimateur basé de la vitesse de l'onde de pression. Un banc d'essais pulsatile a été mis en oeuvre, et utilisé pour estimer cette vitesse in vitro. Ce protocole a été appliqué in vivo pour estimer la vitesse de l'onde depression de la carotide commune, sur une distance de l'ordre de 5 cm. La validation des résultats de ces 2 estimateurs a été obtenue expérimentalement, et par observation de la reproductibilité des résultats.

As with the introduction of x -ray computed tomography, much of the initial development of magnetic resonance applications tended to focus on the central nervous system. The development of magnetic resonance imaging applications to other organ systems such as the chest, abdomen, pelvis and extremities has lagged somewhat behind, awaiting technical improvements, and a broader user base. The past two years have seen a marked increase in imaging applications throughout the body, most notably the musculoskeletal system. It is in this regard, that MRI of the Body is a welcome arrival as a text which describes both basic principles of magnetic resonance ima ging and surveys the current status of magnetic resonance imaging applications throughout the body.
