Geologist Mark flies to the Himalayas to search for the cause of earthquakes growing in ferocity. While setting up equipment, he encounters a beautiful woman, Kusoom, the leader of a cult. As the 'great being' breaks its way out of the mountain, powerful forces try to destroy what they see as a dangerous monster. Finally believing Kusoom's story, and incidentally falling in lover with her, he leads her followers to fight back the attacking army. Many of her followers fall in the battle, and Mark and the Cosmic Swan are wounded. Kusoom and her followers surge onto the swan's back, hoping to fly into the heavens, but the wounded swan's wing fails and they fall.
