Andrew Bellman (originally spelled Pohlman) was born 8 December 1838 in Arzberg, Germany. He was the son of John Pohlman and Eva Kunigunda (Catherine) Keiner. Andrew immigrated to the United States with his parents ca. 1853 and they settled in Breman, Indiana. Andrew married Lovina Zimmerman. Lovina was the daughter of Conrad Zimmerman. Conrad immigrated to the United States from Bavaria, Germany sometime prior to 1860 with his wife Catherine Nitot. Andrew and Lovina reared their family in Breman, Indiana. Descendants lived primarily in Indiana and elsewhere.
