The letters to Sir Hugh Smith are chiefly concerned with his commissions for articles of dress. A postscript in the letter to Thomas Smithe of October 14, 1629 (8) says he has heard that "you would fain bargain for some of the Duke [of Buckingham]'s household stuff ... my lady thinks them all too dear." A note in (4), dated July 5, 1620, comments on a report that a royal proclamation will determine who may wear beavers.
