The present volume of the annual statistical report on mineral production of Ontario is designed to present the performance of the mining industry both on the global and regional bases. In recent years the need for this type of presentation has become more generally recognized and the demand for such information has greatly increased. Although this report is issued in continuance of the series of reports on statistics of the mineral industry in Ontario, the general review of the principal mineral industries has been considerably expanded to include certain areas of direct costs, productivity and taxes. Also, comparative estimates are given on cost of exploration and development.
