At any rate, this has been less my object than to place in the hands of my clerical brethren a manual of practical Divinity which might be of some assistance to them in the composition of sermons. That object has been more than attained by the kind reception of the three former volumes on the Gospels. Should the present volumes on the Epistles be received with equal favour, I shall be more than compensated for the labour and the sacrifices which their preparation have entailed.
