Book Description
Bob Steele (Robert Adrian Bradbury 1907-1988) was an actor whose resume spans many decades and genres, but he became known and will always be, a western cowboy star. Steele hit the B-movie big time in the late 20s and for the next 40 years played western characters in films and on TV. For a cowboy with a long and large following, his comic career is short, a 10-issue run in the early 1950s. His original comics could cost hundreds - but Gwandanaland Comics has gathered three of his best into a great book for a tiny fraction of the cost - so you can once again ride the range with "The roughest, toughest cowboy of them all - BOB STEELE!" GWANDANALAND COMICS(TM): We specialize in character collections - many for the first time in print; we also publish individual issues from the past as well as complete comic title series'. Our books are not digitally remastered; we use images from actual comics, and make only minor adjustments to bring out their best characteristics without losing the authentic feel - it is rarely perfect, but we believe it is exciting. Book Description
By the mid-1930s, cinema patrons insisted on value-for-money. Double feature programs became mandatory at all neighborhood cinemas. Usually the "A" feature film figured as the main attraction, and the supporting movie, the "B." Sometimes that role was reversed. On many occasions picturegoers felt the unheralded "B" movie had actually proved more entertaining than the widely advertised "A" attraction. More than two hundred of these wonderful "B" film classics from Hollywood's golden age are described, reviewed and detailed in this book. It's a must-have for all film addicts, movie fans and nostalgia connoisseurs.

Book Description
From the beginning of the sound era until the end of the 1930s, independent movie-making thrived. Many of the independent studios were headquartered in a section of Hollywood called "Poverty Row." Here the independents made movies on the cheap, usually at rented facilities where shooting was limited to only a few days. From Allied Pictures Corporation to Willis Kent Production, 55 Poverty Row Studios are given histories in this book. Some of the studios, such as Diversion Pictures and Cresent Pictures, came into existence for the sole purpose of releasing movies by established stars. Others, for example J.D. Kendis, were early exploitation filmmakers under the guise of sex education. The histories include critical commentary on the studio's output and a filmography of all titles released from 1929 through 1940.
