Book Description
Life is constantly in motion. With each birthday we celebrate, we have made a full trip around the sun. Each moment that passes, leaves us, ever so slightly, different. Every breath we take is new... This book is a collection of stories, of modern day fables, that just happen to be true. These stories are the highlight reel of a well-examined life, and told from the voice of a still evolving thirty-year-old woman, who is living her life, and her dreams, one day at a time. The inspiration for this book, came from my remarkable 75 year-old grandmother Georgette, who recently honored my family by writing her memoirs. So, I thought, perhaps you are never too old, or too young, to have a story to tell. May these stories bring you laughter and tears, as you follow my journey through the tough and tangled world of growing up, falling down, finding love and losing it. A student of life, taking the road less traveled, and sometimes taking no road at all, but always, standing at the fork in the road and enjoying the view. May the heart of these stories strike a chord in your own. Much love, Natalie

Book Description
On September 6, 1620, the Mayflower sailed from Plymouth, England, to the New World, landing in what would become Massachusetts. Those on board were willing to face a dangerous voyage and an uncertain future in order to build a community where they could worship freely. They had planned to settle in the northern stretches of the territory known as Virginia, but fate and bad weather forced them to land instead in New England. The Mayflower's arrival marked the beginning of a new kind of settlement in America-one in which people came to the New World to build a life for themselves and their families. The arrival of the Pilgrims brought a distinctly different approach to life in New England, with an emphasis on hard work and strong religious beliefs whose influence would shape the region for generations. The Arrival of the Mayflower delves into the hardships and triumphs won by this hearty band of settlers, as they escaped religious persecution in England to start their lives over in the New World.

Book Description
Recent scholarship has broadened definitions of war and shifted from the narrow focus on battles and power struggles to include narratives of the homefront and private sphere. To expand scholarship on textual representations of war means to shed light on the multiple theaters of war, and on the many voices who contributed to, were affected by, and/or critiqued German war efforts. Engaged women writers and artists commented on their nations' imperial and colonial ambitions and the events of the tumultuous beginning of the twentieth century. In an interdisciplinary investigation, this volume explores select female-authored, German-language texts focusing on German colonial wars and World War I and the discourses that promoted or critiqued their premises. They examine how colonial conflicts contributed to a persistent atmosphere of Kriegsbegeisterung (war enthusiasm) that eventually culminated in the outbreak of World War I, or a Kriegskritik (criticism of war) that resisted it. The span from German colonialism to World War I brings these explosive periods into relief and challenges readers to think about the intersection of nationalism, violence and gender and about the historical continuities and disruptions that shape such events.

Book Description
On August 7, 1969, when I and a half dozen other soldiers were cut off from other friendly forces and were nearly out of ammunition in a desperate fight with a much larger force of North Vietnamese regulars, I was not surprised to see Ross among the few who risked their lives to come to our assistance. Less than three months later Ross fell mortally wounded in still another battle. Karen [Epps] work to document her brothers life and death is a unique effort that contributes to the full story of a long, controversial war that still has major impact on our country today. It is a tribute to not only Stan and Karens family, but also to all veterans. Michael Lee Lanning Author of The Only War We Had: A Platoon Leaders Journal Of Vietnam and Vietnam, 1969-1970: A Commanders Journal My gratitude to my brother and those brave service men and women can never be expressed in words. Stan and those like him still live on in our hearts. His courage should inspire all of us to do a better job of living.
