Book Description
After the 1954 Brown v. Board of Education ruling, no state fought longer or harder to preserve segregated schools than Mississippi. This massive resistance came to a crashing halt in October 1969 when the Supreme Court ruled in Alexander v. Holmes Board of Education that "the obligation of every school district is to terminate dual school systems at once and to operate now and hereafter only unitary schools." Thirty of the thirty-three Mississippi districts named in the case were ordered to open as desegregated schools after Christmas break. With little guidance from state officials and no formal training or experience in effective school desegregation processes, ordinary people were thrown into extraordinary circumstances. However, their stories have been largely ignored in desegregation literature. Based on meticulous archival research and oral history interviews with over one hundred parents, teachers, students, principals, superintendents, community leaders, and school board members, Natalie G. Adams and James H. Adams explore the arduous and complex task of implementing school desegregation. How were bus routes determined? Who lost their position as principal? Who was assigned to what classes? Without losing sight of the important macro forces in precipitating social change, the authors shift attention to how the daily work of "just trying to have school" helped shape the contours of school desegregation in communities still living with the decisions made fifty years ago.

Book Description
Monica Loughman’s story is the enchanting tale of a 14-year-old girl leaving the comforts of home to train in a strict and austere Russian ballet school. She brought her dreams of becoming a professional ballerina with her. While many young ballerinas’ aspirations are unfulfilled, Loughman became a dancing sensation and was the first Western European to join Russia's distinguished Perm State Theatre of Opera and Ballet. Not just for ballet lovers, this gripping tale also details the endurance and stamina needed to survive in post Soviet-Union Russia. Monica vividly evokes the closed and foreign world of ballet with natural assurance. Her book also reveals the brutality and suffering that often lies behind ballet's fairytale facade. Ballerina is the story of a young girl’s single-minded determination to succeed against the odds. It is a truly engrossing story.

Book Description
The Teenage Mafia Book 2 is another jewel on the book industry. Book 2 is an action packed thriller. It has a lot more venom than Book 1. After Lewis survived three shots from Redd, he wanted to make Redd along with his gang vanish. Lewis persuaded Steven to allow their crew (The Teenage Mafia) to join forces with C-Loc and his 6 St. gang. DL and Redd were already at war with C-Loc; then Steven and Lewis came along and added more destruction to a brutal battle. Lewis thought collaborating with The 6 St. gang was the perfect move because C-Loc had a small army and he hated Redd too. The envy these guys had for each other led to a school shooting, a brawl that took place at a mall, and more senseless killings. Their war became a chess game with real pieces. Read and find out which crew will capture their opponent's king and say the most honorable thing, CHECKMATE. Eric found himself in another love triangle and this time he fought his best friend Steven over his girl friend Honey. After Honey seduced Steven, he winded up sleeping with her. She recorded the sex and sent Eric some footage on his cell phone. Honey wanted sweet revenge because she discovered his sex tape made behind her back. Immediately, Eric wanted Steven dead. He decided to get some help from his untrustworthy cousin Redd. Redd had more beef than a bowl of soup. Redd and Lewis competed some more over Tammy. Tammy was confused about which guy she really wanted. Her feelings for Redd were stronger than what she would admit. Redd went all out trying to erase Lewis. While Steven was not fooling around with Honey, James's mother Zenobia caught his eyes. She found out about her son's involvement in The Teenage Mafia. Zenobia forced Steven to pull off a few robberies and bring her the prizes. Zenobia threaten to call the Police if he didn't do what she said. Steven fell in love with Zenobia; he was fascinated with her looks and sophistication. The 35 years old Zenobia was also falling in love with him-but she was unsure about going out with an 18 years old man.
