Book Description
Ita Wegman spent the last three years of her life in Tessin, in the Casa Andrea Cristoforo. In this secluded province, largely protected from the destructive events of those years and imbued with certain forces, she developed a great work for the future, gathering, leading, and nurturing people both therapeutically and spiritually, preparing for the war’s end with the full intensity of her being. Her last three years were a period of devotion to Rudolf Steiner and his work, as well as to esoteric Christianity—to the forces of the Archangel Michael and to Christ for the present and future. She continued to take a great interest in the difficulties of her time and never ceased to participate in events—taking in refugee children and the homeless, keeping up extensive correspondences with others, struggling with aid organizations and various agencies, caring daily for the afflicted and for patients and colleagues. On March 4, 1943, Ita Wegman passed into the spiritual worlds, well prepared and with all of the spiritual intentions of a Christian initiate. This book contributes to documenting the final phase of Ita Wegman’s life, focusing on the forces of the future that emerged in her. It draws on her notebooks from her time in Ascona, as well as from her extensive correspondence and memories of those who lived and worked at Casa Andrea Cristoforo. She remained upstanding, free, and positive with an esoteric Christian orientation and felt that she was obligated only to her conscience and to the spiritual world for which Rudolf Steiner stood and that she served. This book was originally published in German as «Die letzten drei Jahre. Ita Wegman in Ascona 1940–1943» (Verlag am Goetheanum, Dornach, Switzerland, 2004).

Book Description
Religious ritual is often seen as a way of bringing divine influences down into the material world. In this profound and stimulating work, Rudolf Steiner and Friedrich Benesch introduce the idea of "reverse ritual"--a way that each of us can raise our souls to the spiritual realm. In this process, the everyday world becomes a portal through which we can enter the dimension of the sacred. Here, each of us can be a "priest," and each of our actions can be a cosmic, ritual act. This stimulating collection of writings on spiritual communion of humanity includes two further lectures by Steiner that show how this process can engage our social lives. Also included are two additional essays as appendices: "Sacramental and Spiritual Communion" by Dietrich Asten and "Human Encounters and Karma" by Athys Floride. The introduction by Christopher Schaefer brings these ideas into focus for modern seekers. Contents: Part One: "The Spiritual Communion of Humanity" (5 lectures from GA 219) Part Two: "Preparing for the Sixth Epoch" Part Three: Commentaries by Friedrich Benesch Appendices: Selections from Dietrich Asten: "Spiritual and Sacramental Communion" & Athys Floride: "Human Encounters and Karma."

Book Description
‘Because I felt that he knew how things were, I said simply:“I will stay with you.” Then he said significant things to me that I was not to repeat. A very ancient karma existing between him and myself was renewed. It was not until many years later that I first realised the significance of that meeting.’ – Ita Wegman Ita Wegman was one of Rudolf Steiner’s most important co-workers, collaborating with him principally in the field of Medicine – co-authoring the key book Extending Practical Medicine and heading the Medical Section of the School of Spiritual Science. In the background to that external work, however, was an esoteric connection. In this seminal work of karma research, the authors attempt, sensitively and with responsibility, to shed light on that spiritual and karmic history. Written for members of the Anthroposophical Society, this book is a profound study of a series of different incarnations linked to the figures of Ita Wegman and Rudolf Steiner. Spread over six disparate lifetimes, they range from Gilgamesh and Eabani (Enkidu) in Uruk, ancient Chaldea, to the Goetheanum in Dornach, Switzerland, the twentieth-century setting of the world centre of anthroposophy. Based on copious historical research, verbal statements and not a little spiritual insight, this rare and valuable work, reprinted here for the first time, features many illustrations and facsimiles of documents and personal letters.

Book Description
In this classic introductory work on spiritual medicine, Rudolf Steiner worked in unique literary collaboration with the physician Ita Wegman. Their aim was to revitalise the art of healing through spiritual knowlege - yet in so doing they did not underrate or dismiss modern scientific medicine, but illumined it beyond its present materialistic outlook to a fuller realisation of the human condition. As Ita Wegman wrote in her preface: "The aim was not to underestimate scientific medicine in an ameteurish way; it was given full recognition. But it was important to add to existing knowlege the insights that can come from true perception of the spirit, enabling us to understand the processes of illness and healing."Today this new extension of practical medicine, known as 'anthroposophical medicine', is used and valued by many physicians and in many clinics around the world.Dr. ITA WEGMAN was born in the Dutch West Indies in 1876 and trained in gymnastics and massage and later medicine. After founding the Institute of Clinical Medicine in Arlesheim, she was made leader of the Medical Section of the Anthroposophical Society in 1923. Her last years were devoted to her work in the clinic where she died in 1943.

Book Description
"I believe a time will come when greater distance makes the conflicts in the Anthroposophical Society--which at first sight seem so ugly--appear as part of the struggle for Anthroposophy in the twentieth century. When this future dawns, it will be important to be able to reach back to an historical documentation of what happened." --Emmanuel Zeylmans Following the reestablishment of the Anthroposophical Society at the Christmas Foundation Meeting in 1923, Ita Wegman--Rudolf Steiner's closest collaborator at the end of his life--became the object of intense opposition, systematic exclusion, and misunderstanding. This ostracism and misinformation continued even after her death, kept alive by prejudice and untruths that created an atmosphere that prevented a clear and unbiased view of her role in Anthroposophy. Because no real biography existed, even those who were open-minded and impartial found it difficult to make an informed assessment of the situation. This lack has been filled by Emanuel Zeylmans's three-volume work, Who Was Ita Wegman? In writing it, he had access to 100 undated notebooks, 2,000 manuscript pages, and 6,000 letters. Sifting these was an enormous project. It took Zeylmans twelve years to reach the esoteric heart of the "Wegman question," and what he found was extraordinary and extremely important to anyone interested in Anthroposophy and the divisive karma of its history. Ita Wegman and Anthroposophy consists of interviews with Emmanuel Zeylmans by Wolfgang Weirauch of the German journal, Flensburger Heft. Speaking candidly about the deepest aspects of his revelatory findings, Zeylmans describes how his passionate need to understand what happened to Ita Wegman and Anthroposophy unfolded. He talks of meetings with those who knew her intimately. He tells of her collaboration with Rudolf Steiner and her fraught relations with Maria Steiner and Edith Maryon, both of whom also claimed a special relationship with Rudolf Steiner. Zeylmans also describes the Christmas Foundation Meeting and the conflicts that followed Steiner's death, leading to Ita Wegman's expulsion from the Executive Council of the Anthroposophical Society. Those interested in understanding the karma of the Anthroposophical Society will find this book illuminating. It would be a mistake, however, to consider it a book about the only past; it is also a book about the future of Anthroposophy.

Book Description
The path of an individual human life - our biography - is something of a mystery. Despite the abundance of published biographies and autobiographies of celebrities and historical figures, the scientific study of human biography remains in its infancy, with little understanding of the inherent laws in the path of an individual's life. Yet as Rudolf Steiner shows here, every biography, regardless of the individual's fame, perceived importance or outer success, is ruled by archetypal influences, patterns and laws. This broad-ranging anthology addresses some critical and as yet unanswered questions: What effects do education - and in particular contrasting education methods - have on later life? How do the various periods of life relate to each other? Do the effects of events on the individual become evident immediately, or is their true impact delayed - perhaps by decades? To what extent can an individual shape the stages of his or her biography? How much freedom of choice do we have, and how much of life is predetermined? Out of the higher knowledge Rudolf Steiner acquired from his spiritual research, he described the human individuality as a being with a continuing existence - before birth and beyond death. This eternal being experiences many varied conditions and situations, the effects of which are observable in our biography. This book addresses these and other issues such as freedom and destiny, the effects of heredity, illness, and the impact of education, offering answers based on a profound knowledge of the human being.

Book Description
"After Rudolf Steiner's death, she remained filled with the great impulses of the Christmas Foundation Meeting--impulses, hopes, also anxieties on behalf of mankind, which he had shared with her in many an intimate conversation" --George Adams on Ita Wegman Following the death of Rudolf Steiner in 1925, Ita Wegman--one of his closest esoteric students--began to publish regular letters to the members of the Anthroposophical Society. As Steiner's had done, her letters were appended with "leading thoughts" (guiding principles). Esoteric Studies collects many of those "letters to friends," along with various articles, reports, and addresses by Ita Wegman on subjects such as the Christmas Foundation Conference, the Goetheanum building, and the festival of Michaelmas. Featuring an informative foreword by Crispian Villeneuve and a commemorative study by George Adams, this book provides a fine introduction to the work of Ita Wegman, as well as a rousing call for courage and wakefulness in the spirit of the Archangel Michael "May all those who have the strength and courage, not only to bring the Michael-thought to manifestation in their souls but to make it living in their deeds, become true servants of Michael and bring about his victory, and thus lead mankind over the great crisis with which it is now confronted." --Ita Wegman

Book Description
Created in 1911, eurythmy was developed for years as an artistic and educational discipline. Although Rudolf Steiner pointed out its healing aspects from the very beginning, it was only in 1921 that he gave a course of lectures that gave the art of eurythmy a vital new application. To the assembled eurythmists and doctors, he presented what one participant described as '...a complete and detailed method of eurythmy therapy, in which we could directly experience that even today the creative and therapeutic power of the word ... is still at work'.Steiner's comprehensive lectures, republished here in a thoroughly revised translation, describe the principles of therapeutic eurythmy, giving many specific exercises. Primarily intended for practising eurythmists, these lectures also contain much material of particular interest. Steiner reveals the intricacies of rhythmic interplay between human physiology and the life-forces in the world around us. He describes the qualities of language and the dynamism contained in the individual vowels and consonants, elucidating their relationship with eurythmical movements and human experience. Through such movements, individuals are able to access the healing etheric forces. The exercises, referred to by Steiner as 'inner gymnastics', contain enormous potential for psychological and physiological well-being. Gaining ever-wider recognition today, they complement conventional medicine, offering a therapeutic process concerned with mind, soul and body. This new edition of these important lectures - previously published under the title Curative Eurythmy - includes an appendix with reminiscences by early eurythmists, as well as additional commentary from Dr Walter Kugler.
