Welchen Einfluss hat das Umweltbewusstsein auf die Wahl des Verkehrsmittels? Damit ist gemeint, ob sich die Befragten bei der Wahl des Verkehrsmittels Gedanken über dessen Einfluss auf die Umwelt machen. Welche Faktoren beeinflussen die Wahl des Verkehrmittels? Wie ist die Wahrnehmung der Alternativen zum Auto, damit ist gemeint welches Image haben das Fahrrad, die öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel und die deutsche Bahn? Wie verhält es sich mit der Akzeptanz eines "Tempolimits 120" auf deutschen Autobahnen oder einer "Stadtmaut" wie es sie bereits in einigen Weltstädten gibt? Sind sich die Menschen wirklich bewusst darüber, wie schädlich Autofahren ist? Sind die Menschen informiert darüber wie es um die Umwelt steht und wie viel Geld sind die Befragten auch in Zukunft bereit zu zahlen, um weiterhin Autofahren zu können? Wir haben uns in der Arbeit zum Ziel gesetzt am Ende der Arbeit eine Verbindung von Theorie und Praxis herstellen zu können.

This volume presents for the first time a collection of historically important papers written on the concept of rationality in the social sciences. In 1939-40, the famed Austrian economist Joseph A. Schumpeter and the famous sociologist Talcott Parsons convened a faculty seminar at Harvard University on the topic of rationality. The first part includes their essays as well as papers by the Austrian phenomenologist Alfred Schütz, the sociologist Wilbert Moore, and the economist Rainer Schickele. Several younger economists and sociologists with bright futures also participated, including Alex Gerschenkron, John Dunlop, Paul M. Sweezy, and Wassily W. Leontief, who was later awarded the Nobel Prize for developing input-output analysis. The second part presents essays and commentaries written by today’s internationally noted social scientists and addressing the topic of rationality in social action from a broad range of perspectives. The volume provides a field-analytical methodology for researching knowledge-based sociopolitical processes of transnationalization. Drawing on seminal work by Pierre Bourdieu, we apply concepts of practice, habitus, and field to phenomena such as cross-national social trajectories, international procedures of evaluation, standardization, and certification, or supranational political structures.
