Book Description
AllBooks Review's Lea Schizas writes that Think, Woodchuck is the most chilling novel I have read in quite some time. Subterranean gloom suffuses this creepy tale of the implosion of a deranged mind. Fifteen-year-old Ian lives without electricity or water in a suburban house left to him by his mysteriously vanished parents. His grip on reality loosening, he finds himself adrift in a hallucinatory netherworld, plagued by phantoms--a menacing history teacher who seems to be able to read his mind and an old librarian whose books uncannily parallel his warped worldview. By turns mordant, macabre and poignant, Maxwell's first-person narrative situates readers within the claustrophobic confines of his protagonist's twisted head, making Ian's demented logic understandable -- though no less horrifying -- as he follows it to a grisly conclusion. -KIRKUS DISCOVERIE

Book Description
From award-winning talent Cece Bell, a sweetly offbeat story about two shy first-graders and the woodchuck who helps them become friends. When Caroline’s classmate Chuck brings Woodchuck to show-and-tell, Woodchuck is so funny that their teacher says he can come to school every day! Woodchuck is friendly to everyone, but he’s especially sweet to Caroline. He gives her Chuck’s hat when her ears get cold and Chuck’s cupcake when she drops hers. But when Caroline forgets her lines during the class play, it’s not Woodchuck who comes to the rescue. A perfect read-aloud for facilitating friendships, this charming story recognizes that sometimes, making a connection takes time — but is worth the wait.

Book Description
This volume explores the use of higher-order logics in metaphysics. Higher-order logics are natural extensions of the common systems of predicate logic, with a history going back to the very beginnings of formal logic. Such logics are well suited to formalize metaphysical views and arguments. Over the last decade, there has been a resurgence of interest in higher-order metaphysics. Seventeen original essays are grouped under five headings. Three introductory chapters present higher-order languages and motivate their use in metaphysics. Three chapters on pure higher-order metaphysics discuss different options of higher-order languages and logics which may be used in metaphysics. Three chapters on applied higher-order metaphysics consider the application of higher-order logic to various central topics of metaphysics. Three historical chapters trace the development of higher-order logic as it relates to metaphysics over the last 150 years. The volume concludes with a discussion, containing two chapters criticizing the use of higher-order logic in metaphysics, as well as responses to these criticisms by two authors.
