Book Description
This study investigates the stock market reaction of the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE) to cash dividend announcements for the period 2000-2004. In particular, the paper examines both the stock price and trading volume response to company announcements about dividend distributions. The dividend distribution in Greece features remarkable differences from those of US, UK and other developed markets. First, dividends in Greece are paid on a yearly basis. Second, the corporate law designates with high accuracy the minimum amount for distribution from the net earnings. Third, neither tax on dividends nor on capital gains is imposed in Greece. Despite this restrictive informational environment, we document significant market reaction on dividend announcement dates. Similar market reaction is observed to dividend change announcements, lending support to the quot;information content of dividends hypothesisquot; which predicts market reaction on the direction of that of dividend change.

Book Description
The implied volatility of any stock market can be used in order to measure the future expectations of risk and returns. The purpose of this paper is to measure the levels of risk in the Greek stock market for the brief time interval of 02/02/2015-03/31/2015. The reason of choosing this time interval to be examined is that during these dates many political decisions have been made, and as a consequence the uncertainty in Greece was higher with a significant impact in the Eurozone. Thus, it is of great importance to examine the implied volatility of the Greek stock market and measure its' relevance with the implied volatility of the German stock market. The reason that these stock markets have been selected relies on the fact that the German stock market represents the most stable economy of the Eurozone, and on the other hand, the Greek stock market represents the most unstable economy inside the Eurozone. Under these circumstances, the implied volatilities of these stock markets are going to be modeled in order to detect the relationship between them.

Book Description
The establishment and growth of the Greek stock market were coincident with development episodes, financial upheavals and geographic expansions of the country's economy over the period 1880-1940. We explore the growth of the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE) through new listings and Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. We examine changes in exchange governance and listing requirements. On a theme not addressed before, we find that simple listings were far more numerous than actual IPOs. IPOs in Greece remained unregulated throughout the period. Their under-pricing became pronounced in the later parts of the period, especially the 1920s. The study presents data on 'quasi-IPOs' (i.e. capital increases shortly after listing) and shows that they offer a more accurate assessment of the demand for the financing of listing firms in an emerging market. Robust evidence is presented that as the Exchange developed it also underwent a change in character, becoming more oriented to the domestic market and catering to smaller firms in domestic manufacturing in the post-World War I era that marked the end of early globalization.
