In December, 1862, General Fitz-John Porter was tried by court-martial for his conduct during the Second Battle of Bull Run. He was arraigned for criminal insubordination and disobedience of orders. General Porter appealed this arraignment and in 1878 President Hayes appointed an Advisory Board to further investigate the matter. This paper is a response to the findings of that board as the author contends that the decision of the court-martial should not be overturned.
