Book Description
Not every white culture exploited the other races. Neither the Vikings nor the Russians participated in the actions of the Spanish, Portuguese and other Europeans that came later and ravaged the New World and enslaved Africans for labor. This book unpacks a history rarely told. A history that may not exonerate "white people" but shows that it is time to understand history rather than narrative. It asks the important question: "What is the difference between justice and revenge?" The Other White People: From Vikings to Russians is available in paperback, hardcover, ebook, and soon in audiobook formats. Pick it up for serious students of human cultures!

Brown Vs White
Author: Roderick Edwards
Publisher: Roderick Edwards
ISBN:
Category : Literary Criticism
Languages : en
Pages : 95
Book Description
Malcolm X once said that "So we won't solve the problem listening to that Uncle Tom Negro, and the problem won't be solved listening to the so-called white liberal. The only time the problem is going to be solved is when a Black man can sit down like a Black man and a white man can sit down like a white man. And make no excuses whatsoever with each other in discussing the problem. No offense will stem from factors that are brought up. But both of them have to sit down like men, on one side and on the other side, and look at it in terms of Black and white. And then take some kind of solution based upon the factors that we see, rather than upon that which we would like to believe.". This book takes that approach as it looks into all the factors that have created generations of strife of BROWN vs WHITE. Racial issues persist for many reasons, one of the main reasons is that we refuse to address why Africans have traditionally been used as laborers not only by white people but by all other cultures which encountered Africa pre-industrial era, including by other Africans. Historically, some researchers have tried to answer this issue by suggesting a genetic deficiency or lack of cognitive abilities by Africans but clearly, this is not the case. BROWN vs WHITE explores the reality that Egypt and Libya are NOT the same as "black Africa" so when black people point to Egyptian history and achievements to imply Africans were and are just as advanced as other cultures, they are actually appropriating another culture's history. Ancient Egyptians came from Phoenicia. Egyptians, are not black Africans. Lastly, until the black man can accept that the African slave trade was operating long before Europeans came to the shores of Africa; that the Ashanti and Yoruba tribes were capturing and selling their fellow Africans to Arabs for centuries before the first white ship pulled up to an African dock -- until that day, the racial strife will continue between BROWN vs WHITE.

The Circassian Miracle: the Nation Neither Tsars, nor Commissars, nor Russia Could Stop
Author: Adel Bashqawi
Publisher: Xlibris Corporation
ISBN: 1796076856
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 701
Book Description
This work is dedicated to Circassia, the historical homeland of the Circassians, who inspired and encouraged emerging generations to maintain the torch of freedom and to lead the way, despite all obstacles and attempts of exclusion that have been tested over the years. Since the subjugation of their homeland, the Circassians were subjected to harsh conditions in all walks of life, which wasn’t easy to withstand and get through. This meant a dictatorial, savage, direct military and security jurisdiction, and domination for the duration of both tyrant tsarist imperial and Soviet/Communist eras. From the beginning of the 1990s on, the general situation has been quite different concerning the circumstances that the Circassian affairs have been clutched to. After decades of being forgotten, the people of the Caucasus region and the world at large have started to become enlightened with information that was prevented and blocked from the public. Even the historians, specialists, and academicians were not in the picture of the pain, destiny, and suffering that the Circassian nation was inflicted with for decades, specifically since the occupation and deportation of 1864.

The Islamic World, Russia and the Vikings, 750-900
Author: Thomas S. Noonan
Publisher: Taylor & Francis
ISBN: 1040245811
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 320
Book Description
Professor Noonan here sets out to examine what Islamic silver coins (dirhams) reveal about the great trade between the Islamic world, European Russia, and the Baltic during the early Viking Age. Particular attention is devoted to the origins of this international commerce and the role of such peoples as the Vikings and Khazars. As he shows, the study of these coins also throws new light on mint output in the ’Abbasid caliphate, the historical significance of specific dirham hoards, and how the patterns of trade evolved during the course of the ninth century.

The annals of St-Bertin
Author:
Publisher: Manchester University Press
ISBN: 1526112728
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 283
Book Description
The Annals of St-Bertin, covering the years 830 to 882, are the main narrative source for the Carolingian world in the ninth century. This richly-annotated translation by a leading British specialist makes these Carolingian histories accessible in English for the first time, encouraging readers to reassess and evaluate a crucially formative period of European history. Produced in the 830s in the imperial palace of Louis the Pious, The Annals of St-Bertin were continued away from the Court, first by Bishop Prudentius of Troyes, then by the great scholar-politician Archbishop Hinemar of Rheims. The authors' distinctive voices and interests give the work a personal tone rarely found in medieval annals. They also contain uniquely detailed information on Carolingian politics, especially the reign of the West Frankish king, Charles the Bald (840-877). No other source offers so much evidence on the Continental activities of the Vikings. Janet L. Nelson offers in this volume both an entrée to a crucial Carolingian source and an introduction to the historical setting of teh Annals and possible ways of reading the evidence. The Annals of St-Bertin will be valuable reading for academics, research students and undergraduates in medieval history, archaeology and medieval languages. It will also fascinate any general reader with an interest in the development of European culture and society.

Russians in Alaska, 1732-1867
Author: Lydia Black
Publisher: University of Alaska Press
ISBN: 1889963046
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 360
Book Description
This definitive work, the crown jewel in the distinguished career of Russian America scholar Lydia T. Black, presents a comprehensive overview of the Russian presence in Alaska. Drawing on extensive archival research and employing documents only recently made available to scholars, Black shows how Russian expansion was the culmination of centuries of social and economic change. Black s work challenges the standard perspective on the Russian period in Alaska as a time of unbridled exploitation of Native inhabitants and natural resources. Without glossing over the harsher aspects of the period, Black acknowledges the complexity of relations between Russians and Native peoples. She chronicles the lives of ordinary men and women the merchants and naval officers, laborers and clergy who established Russian outposts in Alaska. These early colonists carried with them the Orthodox faith and the Russian language; their legacy endures in architecture and place names from Baranof Island to the Pribilofs. This deluxe volume features fold-out maps and color illustrations of rare paintings and sketches from Russian, American, Japanese, and European sources many have never before been published. An invaluable source for historians and anthropologists, this accessible volume brings to life a dynamic period in Russian and Alaskan history. A tribute to Black s life as a scholar and educator, "Russians in Alaska" will become a classic in the field."
