Book Description
Today, it is difficult to imagine that in 1948 L’Oréal was just another small business. In 35 years its turnover went from 200 million to 20 billion francs. This book reveals that factors such as money or classic management techniques played a minor role in L’Oréal’s growth. For François Dalle, such expansion was due primarily to the adherence of the entire L’Oréal staff to what he called the “L’Oréal Spirit:” an infusion into the company’s “psyche” of a passionate will for conquest and development, associated with indisputable quality and an unquenchable desire to be the first to “seize new opportunities.” This is what enabled L’Oréal to diversify its activities, and to expand them throughout Europe, Japan, and both North and South America, and to endure and overcome the crises of the 1970s and 80s. In 1942, François Dalle began working at Monsavon, a small soap-making company that belonged to Eugène Schueller, the founder of L’Oréal. He was made director of L’Oréal in 1948,first working alongside Eugène Schueller, and became president of the company from 1957 to 1985.

Book Description
As a rising superpower and economy, China and the Chinese society have attracted the attention of the world. However, because of the language and cultural barrier, it is difficult for foreign academics and the foreign public to grasp what is happening within Chinese society. This is particularly the case if a foreign audience wishes to understand the Chinese public and how social justice plays out in China. Cases on Social Justice in China and Perspectives on Chinese Brands proposes an objective view of the effect that social justice and online public debates had on brands by describing and reporting the real situation in China where brands faced a public outcry after a controversial event and by considering how the brands were affected. Covering key topics such as brand activity, social media, boycotts, vulgar marketing, and salary disputes, this reference work is ideal for government officials, policymakers, researchers, scholars, academicians, practitioners, instructors, and students.

Book Description
An NPR Best Book of 2017 Heiress to the nearly forty-billion-dollar L’Oréal fortune, Liliane Bettencourt was the world’s richest woman and the fourteenth wealthiest person. But her gilded life took a dark yet fascinating turn in the past decade. At ninety-four, she was embroiled in what has been called the Bettencourt Affair, a scandal that dominated the headlines in France. Why? It’s a tangled web of hidden secrets, divided loyalties, frayed relationships, and fractured families, set in the most romantic city—and involving the most glamorous industry—in the world. The Bettencourt Affair started as a family drama but quickly became a massive scandal, uncovering L’Oréal’s shadowy corporate history and buried World War II secrets. From the Right Bank mansions to the Left Bank artist havens; and from the Bettencourts’ servant quarters to the office of President Nicolas Sarkozy; all of Paris was shaken by the blockbuster case, the shocking reversals, and the surprising final victim. It all began when Liliane met François-Marie Banier, an artist and photographer who was, in his youth, the toast of Paris and a protégé of Salvador Dalí. Over the next two decades, Banier was given hundreds of millions of dollars in gifts, cash, and insurance policies by Liliane. What, exactly, was their relationship? It wasn’t clear, least of all to Liliane’s daughter and only child, Françoise, who became suspicious of Banier’s motives and filed a lawsuit against him. But Banier has a far different story to tell... The Bettencourt Affair is part courtroom drama; part upstairs-downstairs tale; and part characterdriven story of a complex, fascinating family and the intruder who nearly tore it apart.
