Book Description
During the siege of Atlanta in the American Civil War, General Sherman ordered a series of Union cavalry raids behind Confederate lines to destroy railroad facilities and cut off the source of supplies to Atlanta to force the surrender of the city. One of those raids was led by General Stoneman, who not only planned to lead five thousand Union cavalrymen to destroy a railroad works but also planned to then continue south to Macon, Georgia. Once there, he intended to capture the city along with its notorious Camp Oglethorpe prison and free the fifteen hundred Union officers imprisoned there. Macon, Georgia, is approximately 160 miles south of the Union lines along the Chattahoochee River just north of Atlanta. If successful, Stonemans raiders would then have to fight their way back north to the Union lines and somehow manage to bring fifteen hundred weak and sick men along with them. This is the story of one young soldier from Illinois who took part in that raid and what happened to him and his three squad mates as they tried to make their way back to the Union lines and safety. Traveling at night and hiding by day, progress back north will be much slower and much more dangerous than the original ride south to Macon. Failure on their part will either end in death or imprisonment in the notorious Andersonville prison.

Book Description
"...and of course the whimsical poetic meter known as iambic tetrameter is no more capable of exclusive ownership than the air we all breath."--Bimisi to Theodor Seuss GeislIt is entirely possible to wake up in the morning with no intention of learning anything at all, but learning something substantial, nonetheless. It was a typical Wednesday afternoon at their favorite dive bar. Bimisi and Sumguyen were sparring, via a spirited match of online trivia, with patrons of a similar dive bar in another part of the world...a part of the world where it most likely was not still Wednesday afternoon. The final question...at least the last question they heard before scrambling for a pen and paper to get to work on their first parody was this:Madonna, Michael Jackson and _____ are the only 3 artists who have had a top 40 hit in 4 different decades.ANSWER: Weird Al Yankovic

Book Description
The moving story of a tough little horse, a gifted boy, and a woman ahead of her time. The youngest jockey, the smallest horse, and an unconventional heiress who disliked publicizing herself. Together, near Liverpool, England, they made a leap of faith on a spring day in 1938: overriding the jockey's father, trusting the boy and the horse that the British nicknamed the "American pony" to handle a race course that newspapers called "Suicide Lane." There, Battleship might become the first American racer to win England's monumental, century-old Grand National steeplechase. His rider, Great Britain's Bruce Hobbs, was only 17 years old. Hobbs started life with an advantage: his father, Reginald, was a superb professional horseman. But Reg Hobbs also made extreme demands, putting Bruce in situations that horrified the boy's mother and sometimes terrified the child. Bruce had to decide just how brave he could stand to be. On the other side of the Atlantic, the enigmatic Marion duPont grew up at the estate now known as James Madison's Montpelier—the refuge of America's "Father of the Constitution." Rejecting her chance to be a debutante, denied a corporate role because of her gender, Marion chose a pursuit where horses spoke for her. Taking on the world's toughest race, she would leave her film star husband, Randolph Scott, a continent away and be pulled beyond her own control. With its reach from Lindbergh's transatlantic flight to Cary Grant's Hollywood, Battleship is an epic tale of testing your true worth.
