Scottish graphic artist and illustrator Harold Robert Millar (1869-1942), best known for his illustrations for children books and fantasy literature, had an extensive working relationship with E. Nesbit and this edition includes his original illustrations for the book throughout. The story relates the adventures of two impoverished children who inherit the decrepit Arden Castle and search for the long-lost family fortune which will help them rebuild it.
