Book Description
There are old myths that can help us overcome the serious crisis of civilisation in which we are immersed. They are myths from distant parts of our world that speak of a grave future crisis and how we might solve it. A book aimed not only at educators, storytellers and social mobilisers, but also at activists, youth groups and social movements. The Earth Stories Collection is a repository of myths, legends, fables and folktales from diverse cultures around the planet which are capable of transmitting a complex-systems worldview and of illustrating the principles and values of the Earth Charter. It is a cultural seed bank, a base of global educational resources for the construction (or reconstruction) of a deeply sustainable global society, based on social and economic justice, and values of peace and democracy. The Earth Stories Collection is an initiative launched by The Avalon Project - Initiative for a Culture of Peace, in collaboration with the Secretariat of Earth Charter International and the Scottish International Storytelling Festival. In Volume 0 of this Collection a presentation of the research that led to this project was made. In addition, 45 stories from around the world were offered as a first installment. In this Volume 1, we present 30 more stories and new research on what the author calls 'The Myths of the Future'.

Book Description
The Earth Stories Collection is a global project consisting of a repository of myths, legends, fables, and folktales from all cultures on the planet, stories capable of conveying a systemic worldview and illustrating the ethical principles and values of the Earth Charter. It is inspired by the Svalbard Global Seed Vault in Norway, an agricultural seed bank where seeds from all regions of the planet are preserved as a food guarantee for humanity in the face of the possibility of a global crisis or disaster. In this sense, The Earth Stories Collection would become a cultural seed bank, a base of global educational resources for the construction -or reconstruction- of a deeply sustainable global society, based on social and economic justice, and values of peace and democracy; that is, the values of the Earth Charter. The Earth Stories Collection is an initiative launched by The Avalon Project - Initiative for a Culture of Peace, in collaboration with the Secretariat of Earth Charter International and the Scottish International Storytelling Festival. In this book you will find the first installment of 45 myths, legends and folktales from around the world capable of transmitting a systemic and ecocentric worldview, as well as the principles and values of the Earth Charter. But you will also find, in the first half of the book, the theoretical and scientific justification that has given rise to the Collection.

Book Description
This book offers 45 stories (myths, legends, fables and folktales) from around the world specifically selected to convey a systemic and ecological worldview. In addition, all of them illustrate different principles and sections of the Earth Charter, the most inclusive soft-law document made by humanity about common values and ethics. In this way, this book is a wonderful educational tool, not just for parents and teachers, but also for all kind of persons trying to propitiate a change in our society in the direction of social and economic justice, non-violence and respect for the Earth and the Community of Life over her. But, in addition to these 45 stories, the first part of the book offers, in an affordable and entertaining reading, the explanation of why these traditional stories belonging to cultures from all around the world can make a deep change in our civilisation. These explanations are based on an extensive research made by Grian Cutanda at the University of Granada, Spain, but while living in Scotland. In this research, he justified the power of traditional stories to change the worldviews (the cultural DNA) of any civilisation. In this way, The Earth Stories Collection aims to be a tool to instil a deep civilisational change.

Book Description
After holding it a secret for ten years, Hellboy creator Mike Mignola finally reveals Abe Sapien's bizarre history. Introduced in the first Hellboy book and featured prominently in the film, Abe Sapien has remained one of the most intriguing mysteries of Mignola's celebrated work. The Hellboy film steered clear of any origin story for Abe so that the tale could be told in Plague of Frogs. The story of Abe's origins unfolds as the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense try to stop the monstrous frog men from the first Hellboy graphic novel, Seed of Destruction. The plague begins its spread across America, lending an apocalyptic new direction to Mignola's stories. • Collects the five-issue miniseries. • With art by Guy Davis and a behind-the-scenes look at his sketchbook, this third volume of B.P.R.D. sees Mignola taking over writing chores for the first time and reveals secrets he's kept under wraps since the beginning of the Hellboy saga, and changes that world completely.

Book Description
The Book of Eador, Abjurations 12:14, is very clear: Suffer ye not the life of a witch. For a thousand years, the Church Knights have obeyed that commandment, sending to the stake anyone who can hear the songs of the earth. There are no exceptions, not even for one of their own. Novice Knight Gair can hear music no one else can, beautiful, terrible music: music with power. In the Holy City, that can mean only one thing: death by fire—until an unlikely intervention gives him a chance to flee the city and escape the flames. With the Church Knights and their witchfinder hot on his heels, Gair hasn't time to learn how to use the power growing inside him, but if he doesn't master it, that power will tear him apart. His only hope is the secretive Guardians of the Veil, though centuries of persecution have almost destroyed their Order, and the few Guardians left have troubles of their own. For the Veil between worlds is weakening, and behind it, the Hidden Kingdom, ever-hungry for dominion over the daylight realm, is stirring. Though he is far from ready, Gair will find himself fighting for his own life, for everyone within the Order of the Veil, and for the woman he has come to love.
