Book Description
Al-Hilal was an Urdu weekly founded and edited by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad in 1912. The weekly played a significant role during the national struggle against colonialism and spread the message of nationalism and Political Conciousness among the Urdu speaking population. This led to a voice of protest among the Muslim population against the British. British in turn tried to suppress movement. But in a short period of its life, the Al-Hilal had firmly placed Maulana Abul Kalam Azad at the pinnacle of his literary and political fame where he remained throughout the liberation struggle and after. Abul Kalam Azad was not only a man of religion, but also a man of literature. He wedded to the spirit of Islam with the country's freedom struggle. The Al-Hilal reflects the first stage in this direction. The present selection from Al-Hilal (and its rendering into English) under the title `The Dawn of Hope' is an effort to bring out Abul Kalam Azad’s contributions to the English readers.

Book Description
In October 2015, the Gupta brothers offered Mcebisi Jonas the position of minister of finance in exchange for R600 million. Then deputy minister of finance, Jonas turned down the bribe and a period of deep introspection followed for him. How did we reach this point, and what did the future hold for South Africa’s democracy and the economy? In After Dawn, Mcebisi Jonas analyses the crisis at the heart of our current system, which places politics at the centre of policymaking and implementation at the expense of growth. In this important and authoritative book, Jonas first unpacks and analyses the current badlands of the South African economic and political landscape. In the second half, Jonas proposes a series of workable and practical solutions for transitioning South Africa into a growing, job-creating country including: Putting inclusive growth at the centre of economic policy; rapidly expanding new technological capacities and knowledge to transition to a twenty-first-century economy; expanding human capabilities at scale; path-changing trade-offs to catalyse the next phase of South Africa’s development; nurturing a corruption-free, high-performance state built on meritocracy and innovation; and changing the nature of politics. Time is of the essence and the window of opportunity is narrowing for all South Africans to work together towards the South Africa we all imagined was possible in 1994.

In a future so distant it looks like our past, Sevara has seen centuries come and go like so many sunrises and sunsets. After Sevara and a group of shapeshifting immortals guide humanity to peace, one final task remains - to give up their memories, and their immortality, and live one last life. All they have to do is sleep for ten thousands years, and forget. All the immortals keep their promise and give up their powers. Everyone that is, except Sevara. Sevara awakens to find that suffering and cruelty returned to the world, while all her friends have had their memories wiped clean. You'd think that being the only shapeshifting immortal would be a good thing. But Sevara soon finds that the memories of her mortal life infected humanity while she slept, and her very own past may destroy the future.

Book Description
Neither a commentary on the book of Revelation nor a devotional work -- though it offers aspects of both -- Joy in Our Weakness is instead a theological and practical guide that ushers readers into the very presence of Christ and His Lordship over the powers of evil. Marva Dawn writes compassionately for those who suffer, for this book was born out of her own struggles with physical limitations and chronic illness, and it is intended to help the whole Church learn how to find Joy in every circumstance of life, especially in trials and sufferings. After outlining some important foundational principles in three introductory chapters, Dawn guides readers through the whole book of Revelation, pointing out the errors of those who try to calendarize the end of the world and instead delineating how The Revelation reveals Christ's Lordship, exposes the workings of the powers, and sustains those who suffer until evil is ultimately defeated. Now thoroughly revised for a wider readership, Joy in Our Weakness highlights The Revelation's original purpose -- to comfort afflicted, suffering believers -- and spells out a biblically grounded "theology of weakness," offering a rare gift to the Church today. A wealth of insight and encouragement truly awaits the readers of these pages.
