Book Description
Excerpt from The Collected Papers of John Westlake on Public International Law When, soon after the death of Professor Westlake, the first edition of his Chapters on the Principles of International Law was exhausted, the Syndics of the University Press resolved, instead of simply bringing out a second edition of this work, to publish a Collection of all the smaller contributions of Westlake to Public International Law and to embody therein a new edition of the Chapters on the Principles of International Law. With the consent of Mrs Westlake I undertook the task of editing the present Collection, which comprises all the English papers of Westlake on the subject, with the exception of book reviews. Westlake's French Papers on Public International Law, which for the most part have appeared in the Revue de Droit International et de Législation Comparée (see below, Appendix, pp. 678-686), had, for want of space, to be excluded from the present volume; they are, however, easily accessible, since the Revue de Droit International et de Legislation Comparée is in the hands of all those interested in International Law. Book Description
`Reader beware. You are about to be challenged and drawn into a realm of unorthodox ideas, often stated provocatively ...' (From the Foreword). The field of international law is blessed with a broad range of high quality scholarship. But a truly fresh approach and real, original ideas always provide a welcome addition. Any serious player in the international law world will seek out these rare challenges to classic scholarship. International Law Studies is one of these unique works. In this second volume of collected papers, the author addresses: - environmental law, - human rights, - international criminal law, - foreign relations law, - the intersection of political science and international law, and - the study and practice of international law. The insightful and probing nature of the author's wholly new analysis of these critical topics will intrigue any international law scholar or practitioner. To miss International Law Studies is to shut out one of the most thought-provoking voices in the field. This is the second volume in a series of collected papers.

Book Description
The first volume of the collected papers of Sir Hersch Lauterpacht contained three general works. The second volume begins a systematic coverage of the rest of his work presented roughly in accordance with a plan Lauterpacht himself drew up for a possible textbook. The book contains papers falling within the introductory section, dealing with International Law in general, though materials later included in separately published works have normally been excluded. Three papers - 'On Realism, Especially in International Relations', 'Professor Carr on International Morality' and 'International Law after the Second World War' - have not been published before and one, The Reality of the Law of Nations', has only had very limited circulation. The whole work continues the carefully organized presentation of the work of a very distinguished international lawyer.

Book Description
Pavil Gavrilovich, later Sir Paul, Vinogradoff [1854-1925] is well known in Russia principally as a historian and abroad as a legal historian and comparative lawyer. Few in either Russia or abroad are aware that Vinogradoff also wrote on public international law. This volume collects four of his most important contributions to this field: The Legal and Political Aspects of the League of Nations (1918), The Reality of the League of Nations (c. 1919), The Covenant of the League: Great and Small Powers (1919) and History of the Law of Nations, a series of six lectures delivered at the University of Leiden in 1921.
