Book Description
Mass-flow tables for ratios of specific heats of 1.3 and 1.4 are presented for the entire range of critical velocity ratio. The tables enable a quick and accurate determination of the integrated average specific mass flow across a region where the end-point velocities are known, commensurate with the assumptions that the total state is constant and the static pressure varies linearly between the two velocities. A numerical example is included to illustrate the use of the tables. All quantities are in nondimensional form and are tabulated sgainst critical velocity ratio. The tables include specific-mass-flow parameter and ratio of static to total pressure.

Turbomachinery Performance Analysis
Author: R. I. Lewis
Publisher: Butterworth-Heinemann
ISBN: 0080543324
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 350
Book Description
This modern overview to performance analysis places aero- and fluid-dynamic treatments, such as cascade and meridional flow analyses, within the broader context of turbomachine performance analysis. For the first time ducted propellers are treated formally within the general family of turbomachines. It also presents a new approach to the use of dimensional analysis which links the overall requirements, such as flow and head, through velocity triangles to blade element loading and related fluid dynamics within a unifying framework linking all aspects of performance analysis for a wide range of turbomachine types. Computer methods are introduced in the main text and a key chapter on axial turbine performance analysis is complemented by the inclusion of 3 major computer programs on an accompanying disc. These enable the user to generate and modify design data through a graphic interface to assess visually the impact on predicted performance and are designed as a Computer Aided Learning Suite for student project work at the professional designer level.Based on the author's many years of teaching at degree level and extensive research experience, this book is a must for all students and professional engineers involved with turbomachinery.

Propulsion and Power
Author: Joachim Kurzke
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319759795
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 766
Book Description
The book is written for engineers and students who wish to address the preliminary design of gas turbine engines, as well as the associated performance calculations, in a practical manner. A basic knowledge of thermodynamics and turbomachinery is a prerequisite for understanding the concepts and ideas described. The book is also intended for teachers as a source of information for lecture materials and exercises for their students. It is extensively illustrated with examples and data from real engine cycles, all of which can be reproduced with GasTurb (TM). It discusses the practical application of thermodynamic, aerodynamic and mechanical principles. The authors describe the theoretical background of the simulation elements and the relevant correlations through which they are applied, however they refrain from detailed scientific derivations.
