The purpose of this thesis was to investigate the effect of ultrasonic vibrations upon the overall coefficient of heat transfor for forced convective flow of water. The results obtained from our experimentation show that ultrasonic vibrations do have an effect on the overall coefficient of heat transfer. Using a frequency of 27,500 cycles per second, a maximum of 9.8% increase in the overall coefficient was noted at a Reynolds number of 63,500. It is the belief of the authors that this percent could be increased if the frequency was varied to find an optimum operating condition. We hope this report will be of help to anyone who wishes to further investigate this interesting area.
