Book Description
What makes a Seventh-day Adventist a real Seventh-day Adventist? an Adventist is made what he is by the faith of Adventism, he is a Seventh-day Adventist by the pillars of the Faith and by the prophecies given to him by the Holy Spirit's revelation. It is not the denomination of the SDA Church that designates a person as a true Seventh-day Adventist, it is the denominated faith of Seventh-day Adventism that makes him a Seventh-day Adventist. Affiliation with the body is good, but is not the element in true brotherly fellowship, the real element is in fellowshipping with those who have the real faith and morals. We are Thusia Seventh day Adventists. The name Thusia does not stand for a new religion, it is an adjectival noun that describes what kind of Adventists we are. The word Thusia is the Greek word for sacrifice in the LXX and the Greek of the New Testament or Second Witness. It means that we are sacrificial Seventh day Adventists, those who have sacrificed (or denied) self for the sake of love to God and love to their fellowmen because of the moral influence of the sacrifice (Thusia) Jesus made for us. This is true Seventh Day Adventism as is revealed in Romans 12:1 and Psalm 50:5. As the material of this book testifies, we have thoroughly examined the false SDA teachings, presented the teachings of true historic Adventism, and compared them with the false ones for all to see what has happened in the church. We have done all this in principled love, so that when the inquiry is made as to what is the difference between Thusia SDA and the traditional SDA denomination, people can have an appropriate answer, so as to not be deceived to accept the SDA church in its lukewarm state as a church approved of God.

Seventh-Day Adventists Answer Questions on Doctrine
Author: George R. Knight
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 648
Book Description
This is a completely new typeset of the monumental 1957 classic, containing an extensive historical and theological introduction and detailed in-text notations by George R. Knight. Originally produced by the Ministerial Association of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, Questions on Doctrine was widely acclaimed and distributed in the late 1950s and early 1960s as a forthright answer to questions from evangelicals about key elements of Adventist doctrine. Controversy regarding the book's position on the nature of Christ and the atonement soon stopped its circulation. As part of the Adventist Classic Library, Knight's essays provide the background for how the book came about and describes the interaction of the principal players involved in the crisis that shelved this classic work for more than a generation.

The Gospel of Climate Skepticism
Author: Robin Globus Veldman
Publisher: University of California Press
ISBN: 0520303660
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 331
Book Description
Why are white evangelicals the most skeptical major religious group in America regarding climate change? Previous scholarship has pointed to cognitive factors such as conservative politics, anti-science attitudes, aversion to big government, and theology. Drawing on qualitative fieldwork, The Gospel of Climate Skepticism reveals the extent to which climate skepticism and anti-environmentalism have in fact become embedded in the social world of many conservative evangelicals. Rejecting the common assumption that evangelicals’ skepticism is simply a side effect of political or theological conservatism, the book further shows that between 2006 and 2015, leaders and pundits associated with the Christian Right widely promoted skepticism as the biblical position on climate change. The Gospel of Climate Skepticism offers a compelling portrait of how during a critical period of recent history, political and religious interests intersected to prevent evangelicals from offering a unified voice in support of legislative action to address climate change.

A Study of the Emergence and Early Development of Selected Protestant Chinese Churches in the Philippines
Author: Jean Uy Uayan
Publisher: Langham Publishing
ISBN: 1783682825
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 346
Book Description
Dr Jean Uayan comprehensively weaves the story of six Protestant Chinese churches in the Philippines into the local history of their individual settings in this important study. Uncovering new insight and historical information from extensive primary and secondary sources, Uayan presents a rich and previously unacknowledged heritage and support from four American mission organisations during the US occupation from 1898–1946. The seeds sown amongst Chinese communities across the Philippines resulted in indigenous churches that took differing journeys to full independence and now are also bearing fruit in missionary activity in South Fujian, China. This book is an important contribution towards a global church history acknowledging the work of the Holy Spirit establishing and building up the church of Jesus Christ among the nations.

The Gospel in Christian Traditions
Author: Ted A Campbell
Publisher: Oxford University Press
ISBN: 0190451564
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 216
Book Description
Throughout the history of Christianity, there have been theological disputes that caused fissures among the faithful. There were the major ruptures of the Great Schism of 1054 and the Protestant Reformation. Since the Reformation, though, there has been an eruption of new denominations. The World Christian Database now list over 9000 worldwide. And new denominations are created every day, often when a group splits off from an established church because of a dispute over doctrine or leadership. With such a proliferation of denominations, could there possibly be one core Christian message that all churches share? That's the question that Ted Campbell sets out to answer in this book. He begins his examination of Christian doctrine where it started: in the gospels. He then shows how the gospel has been received and professed by Christian communities through the centuries, from the first "proto-Orthodox" Christian communities right through the modern evangelical, Pentecostal, and ecumenical movements. Campbell shows that, despite all the divisions, there is indeed a single unifying core of the faith that all Christians share. In the process, he offers a brief, well-written, and acceptable history of Christian doctrine that will be ideal for courses in the history of Christian thought.
