Computational Sensor Networks
Author: Thomas Henderson
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 0387096434
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 261
Book Description
A model-based approach to the design and implementation of Computational Sensor Networks (CSNs) is proposed. This high-level paradigm for the development and application of sensor device networks provides a strong scientific computing foundation, as well as the basis for robust software engineering practice. The three major components of this approach include (1) models of phenomena to be monitored, (2) models of sensors and actuators, and (3) models of the sensor network computation. We propose guiding principles to identify the state or structure of the phenomenon being sensed, or of the sensor network itself. This is called computational modeling. These methods are then incorporated into the operational system of the sensor network and adapted to system performance requirements to produce a mapping of the computation onto the system architecture. This is called real-time computational mapping and allows modification of system parameters according to real-time performance measures. This book deals with the development of a mathematical and modular software development framework to achieve computational sensor networks.

State Estimation for Distributed Systems with Stochastic and Set-membership Uncertainties
Author: Noack, Benjamin
Publisher: KIT Scientific Publishing
ISBN: 3731501244
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 292
Book Description
State estimation techniques for centralized, distributed, and decentralized systems are studied. An easy-to-implement state estimation concept is introduced that generalizes and combines basic principles of Kalman filter theory and ellipsoidal calculus. By means of this method, stochastic and set-membership uncertainties can be taken into consideration simultaneously. Different solutions for implementing these estimation algorithms in distributed networked systems are presented.

Optimal Sensor Networks Scheduling in Identification of Distributed Parameter Systems
Author: Maciej Patan
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 364228230X
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 300
Book Description
Sensor networks have recently come into prominence because they hold the potential to revolutionize a wide spectrum of both civilian and military applications. An ingenious characteristic of sensor networks is the distributed nature of data acquisition. Therefore they seem to be ideally prepared for the task of monitoring processes with spatio-temporal dynamics which constitute one of most general and important classes of systems in modelling of the real-world phenomena. It is clear that careful deployment and activation of sensor nodes are critical for collecting the most valuable information from the observed environment. Optimal Sensor Network Scheduling in Identification of Distributed Parameter Systems discusses the characteristic features of the sensor scheduling problem, analyzes classical and recent approaches, and proposes a wide range of original solutions, especially dedicated for networks with mobile and scanning nodes. Both researchers and practitioners will find the case studies, the proposed algorithms, and the numerical examples to be invaluable.

Optimal Measurement Methods for Distributed Parameter System Identification
Author: Dariusz Ucinski
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 0203026780
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 392
Book Description
For dynamic distributed systems modeled by partial differential equations, existing methods of sensor location in parameter estimation experiments are either limited to one-dimensional spatial domains or require large investments in software systems. With the expense of scanning and moving sensors, optimal placement presents a critical problem.

Control of Distributed Parameter Systems 1982
Author: Jean-Pierre Babary
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 1483153231
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 661
Book Description
Control of Distributed Parameter Systems 1982 covers the proceeding of the Third International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC) Symposium on Control of Distributed Parameter Systems. The book reviews papers that tackle issues concerning the control of distributed parameter systems, such as modeling, identification, estimation, stabilization, optimization, and energy system. The topics that the book tackles include notes on optimal and estimation result of nonlinear systems; approximation of the parameter identification problem in distributed parameters systems; and optimal control of a punctually located heat source. This text also encompasses the stabilization of nonlinear parabolic equations and the decoupling approach to the control of large spaceborne antenna systems. Stability of Hilbert space contraction semigroups and the tracking problem in the fractional representation approach are also discussed. This book will be of great interest to researchers and professionals whose work concerns automated control systems.
