This standard specifies the permissible limits for rounding and chamfering of edges and corners in order to reduce the risk of injury to drivers or maintenance personnel when operating earth-moving machinery and performing maintenance work. This standard applies to the operation and maintenance passages and exit devices specified in GB/T 17299 and GB/T 17300 and the operating space for earth-moving machinery drivers specified in GB 8498. 2 References The provisions contained in the following standards constitute the provisions of this standard through reference in this standard. When this standard was published, the versions shown were valid. All standards may be revised, so the parties using this standard shall explore the possibility of using the latest versions of the following standards. GB/T 17299-1998 Earth-moving machinery - Minimum access dimensions GB/T 17300-1998 Earth-moving machinery - Access systems GB 8498-87 Earth-moving machinery - Basic types - Vocabulary 3 Technical requirements If structural edges and corners of metal or non-metal materials (see Figure 1) are hard enough to bruise or pierce human skin, the structures shall comply with the requirements of 3.1~3.3. GB/T 17301-1998 www.ChineseStandard.net Buy True-PDF Auto-delivery Page 6 of 6 Figure 1 -- Edges and corners 3.1 The edges and corners of parts shall be rounded or chamfered, with a minimum size of 0.3 mm, as shown in Figure 2; for edges with a thickness of no more than 1 mm, protective strips shall be installed. 3.2 The external corners of the driver's cab, working doors or other sharp objects shall be rounded with a radius of not less than 4 mm. 3.3 The edges/corners of handles and handgrips shall have a radius of not less than 5 mm.
