Book Description
In this book, various antennae in plasmas, particle beam antennae, phase, group and ray velocity surfaces of various plasma modes, RF ray trajectories and wave fronts in inhomogeneous anisotropic plasmas, plasma waveguides, radiations in ion beams and plasma streams, and useful kinetic plasma dielectric tensor are illustrated with many interesting new phenomena in anisotropic plasmas. Many theoretical and experimental results are demonstrated with clearly understandable figures. In addition to these fields, the properties of superconducting plasmas are also presented. Results from radiation phenomena in various schemes are shown and they can be applied in many fields, e.g., space (plasma) sciences, artificial satellites in space, RF heatings of plasmas, and advanced processing plasmas. Fundamental anisotropic phenomena in anisotropic plasmas are also expected to be applicable in other anisotropic media such as anisotropic optical fibers.

Supplementary Estimates of Radiation Geometry and Energy Response for Usnrdl Gamma-intensity-time Recorder (gitr) Model 103
Author: H. R. Rinnert
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Radiation
Languages : en
Pages : 48
Book Description
Estimates of radiation response are presented for the Model 103 Gamma-Intensity-Time Recorder (GITR) as used at Operation Sunbeam. The GITR detector unit, consisting of two concentric ionization chambers, was mounted inside the GITR recorder case and located 3 ft above ground level. GITR responses and their time-dependence were estimated for several idealized radiation source geometries and several calculated gamma energy spectra. Estimated response values are presented as fractions of the GITR's calibration-response to Cs137 radiation beamed at the top of the unmounted detector along its longitudinal axis. The principal conclusions drawn were that: The GITR responses to distributed sources with specified gamma energy spectra did not show a significant dependence upon the source geometries investigated. There were about 17% differences between the responses of the two concentric detectors. The responses changed about 15% during the first 100 hours after fission. The use of overall average GITR responses for distributed sources seems warranted; there is 95% confidence that 95% of the population of GITR responses will be within 12% of the overall average response of 1.16 for the high-range detector, and within 14% of the overall average response of 0.99 for the low-range detector, during the first 110 hours after fission. The Essence of Dielectric Waveguides
Author: C. Yeh
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 0387497994
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 529
Book Description
The Essence of Dielectric Waveguides provides an overview of the fundamental behavior of guided waves, essential to finding and interpreting the results of electromagnetic waveguide problems. Clearly and concisely written as well as brilliantly organized, this volume includes a detailed description of the fundamentals of electromagnetics, as well as a new discussion on boundary conditions and attenuation. It also covers the propagation characteristics of guided waves along classical canonical dielectric structures – planar, circular cylindrical, rectangular and elliptical waveguides. What’s more, the authors have included extensive coverage of inhomogeneous structures and approximate methods, as well as several powerful numerical approaches specifically applicable to dielectric waveguides.
