Book Description
The Airman Certification Standards (ACS) is the guide for aviation students, instructors, and FAA-designated examiners to know what pilot and industry license applicants must know, do, and consider for their FAA Knowledge Exam and practical (checkride) to earn a certificate or rating. The new ACS (effective June 2016) replaces the Practical Test Standards (PTS) and it is basically an enhanced version of the PTS. It adds task-specific knowledge and risk management elements to each PTS "Area of Operation" and "Task."The result is a presentation that integrates the standards for passing both the FAA Knowledge Exams and the FAA Oral and Practical Exams in a way that coordinates the study and learning for both, making them relevant to each other. This Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Private Pilot - Airplane ACS provides the aeronautical knowledge, risk management, and flight proficiency standards for private pilot certification in the airplane category, single-engine land and sea, as well as multi-engine land and sea classes (ASEL, ASES, AMEL, AMES). This ACS incorporates and supersedes the previous Practical Test Standards (FAA-S-8081-14), for "Private Pilot - Airplane" license applicants.

Book Description
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has published the Private Pilot - Airplane Airman Certification Standards (ACS) document to communicate the aeronautical knowledge, risk management, and flight proficiency standards for the private pilot certification in the airplane category, single-engine land and sea; and multiengine land and sea classes. This ACS incorporates and supersedes the previous Private Pilot Practical Test Standards for Airplane, FAA-S-8081-14. The FAA views the ACS as the foundation of its transition to a more integrated and systematic approach to airman certification. The ACS is part of the safety management system (SMS) framework that the FAA uses to mitigate risks associated with airman certification training and testing. Specifically, the ACS, associated guidance, and test question components of the airman certification system are constructed around the four functional components of an SMS: Safety Policy that defines and describes aeronautical knowledge, flight proficiency, and risk management as integrated components of the airman certification system; Safety Risk Management processes through which internal and external stakeholders identify and evaluate regulatory changes, safety recommendations and other factors that require modification of airman testing and training materials; Safety Assurance processes to ensure the prompt and appropriate incorporation of changes arising from new regulations and safety recommendations; and Safety Promotion in the form of ongoing engagement with both external stakeholders (e.g., the aviation training industry) and FAA policy divisions. The FAA has developed this ACS and its associated guidance in collaboration with a diverse group of aviation training experts. The goal is to drive a systematic approach to all components of the airman certification system, including knowledge test question development and conduct of the practical test. The FAA acknowledges and appreciates the many hours that these aviation experts have contributed toward this goal. This level of collaboration, a hallmark of a robust safety culture, strengthens and enhances aviation safety at every level of the airman certification system.

Book Description
For flight instructors, FAA examiners and FAA license applicants, the Practical Test Standards (PTS) are used to prepare for, review, take, or issue the checkride. They list the knowledge and experience prerequisites, the levels of skill that must be demonstrated, and describe background study and reference materials. ASA reprints the most current FAA Practical Test Standards in this series of handy cockpit-sized guides. Every PTS is written by the FAA and lists the details about the type and levels of skill and knowledge that must be demonstrated before an examiner can issue a certificate or rating to an applicant. This edition is the FAA PTS for Private Pilot Airplane, Single-Engine Land and Sea.

FlIGHT INSTRUCTOR Practical Test Standards for Airplane Single-Engine Land and Sea (FAA-S-8081-6D with Changes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6), Effective April 2018. (LAST UPDATES)Record of Changes Change 1 (September 20, 2012) - Removed references to LORAN from the following: o "Abbreviations" section of Introduction o Objective 1 in Task L (Navigation Systems and Radar Services) of Section 1, Area of Operation II - Technical Subject Areas o Objective 1 in Task L (Navigation Aids and Radar Services) of Section 2, Area of Operation II - Technical Subject Areas Change 2 (November 21, 2012) - Revised Note in "Aircraft and Equipment Required for the Practical Test" section of Introduction regarding use of noncomplex airplanes during renewal or reinstatement of the Flight Instructor Certificate. - Revised Note in "Renewal or Reinstatement of a Flight Instructor Certificate" section of Introduction regarding use of non-complex airplanes during renewal or reinstatement of the Flight Instructor Certificate. Change 3 (January 28, 2013) - Revised the "Practical Test Prerequisites" section of the Introduction regarding the amount of time for which an endorsement from an authorized flight instructor may be used to apply for an initial certification or additional rating practical test. Change 4 (January 15, 2015) - Revised Note in "Aircraft and Equipment Required for the Practical Test" section of Introduction and added paragraph 4 clarifying when a non-complex airplane is required for the practical test. These edits are intended to make clear that a complex aircraft is not required when adding an airplane class rating to an existing flight instructor certificate that already contains an airplane category and class rating. The FAA finds the requirements for the use of a complex airplane are not necessary when the applicant has already satisfactorily demonstrated the takeoff, landing, emergency, and other Tasks contained within this PTS in a complex airplane. o For example, an applicant seeking to add a singleengine rating to an existing flight instructor certificate FAA-S-8081-6D that already contains an airplane multiengine category and class rating does not need to perform the practical test in a complex airplane. - Restored Objective 2 in Task F (Secondary Stalls (Demonstration)(ASEL and ASES)) of Section 1, Area of Operation XI - Slow Flights, Stalls, and Spins. o Previously removed inadvertently. Change 5 (June 17, 2016) - Updated all references throughout the document that referred to the Private Pilot Airplane Practical Test Standards (FAA-S-8081-14) to refer to the superseding Private Pilot - Airplane Airman Certification Standards (FAA-S-ACS-6). Change 6 (April 19, 2018) - Removed the complex airplane requirement from practical tests for an airplane single-engine instructor rating and made corresponding changes to Task elements and the following sections in the Introduction: o "Aircraft and Equipment Required for the Practical Test" o "Renewal or Reinstatement of a Flight Instructor Certificate" Notice: This is a printed Paperback/Kindle version of the "FlIGHT INSTRUCTOR Practical Test Standards for Airplane Single-Engine Land and Sea (FAA-S-8081-6D with Changes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6), Effective April 2018".
